brake pad friction material depth

As above anybody know how much pad material is on oem 182 front pads from new ive been told 8mm anybody no different or is this correct

It's more than that, just put new brembo pads on today which are essentially oem and they had a good 12/13mm

Front pad total thickness is specified at 18mm, but that includes the backplate. Backplates tend to be around 4mm thick so roughly speaking its 14mm of friction material, I would say.

The rears being 11mm mentioned above will probably be the total thickness also, so only around 7mm friction material (which seems about right without actually going and measuring a set). Its always suprising how much meat there is on new front pads, and how little there is on the rears! I've had MOT testers give an advisory for rear pads when they are only few hundred miles old! ha ha!
