After setting up, wheels, arches and sills attacked with products various.

DSC03046wd.jpg

Alloys requiring a little more time than usual.

Tar pick-up off the wheels:

DSC03054wd.jpg

And then clayed to lift some of the lighter pitting:

After washing with the usual two-bucket setup and Dodo Born To Be Mild shampoo, little protection was found on the vehicle:

DSC03067wd.jpg

The benefits of a two-bucket wash:

DSC03078wd.jpg

That dirty water in the rinse bucket would otherwise still be on your car!

AutoSmart Tardis applied to the lower areas and allowed to dwell. A minute or so into its work time, area wiped with a clean cloth and surplus amounts of tar seen lifted.

Vehicle then clayed with Sonus Green and Last Touch as lube…

The tailgate was quite stubborn – glass also benefited massively from a quick pass.

Dried off and taken inside for further inspection.

Paint looks to be quite hazy…

B-Pillars quite tarnished, milky and dull:

C-Pillars weren’t much better!!

DSC03172wd.jpg

It’s about 4:30pm at this point. It’s cold, it’s raining hard and it’s ‘moist’ in the air. Bodywork wise, I was struggling. There was no-way I could get it waxed in these conditions..

In checking my work, I had kittens when I saw this lot:

DSC03188wd.jpg

..merely condensation that was forming all over the vehicle. I’ll worry about this when I have to (…the morning!)

Before end of play on day 1 I sealed the wheels with JetSEAL901, dressed the tyres and cleaned up the exhaust baffles that could be spotted in the rear wheel arches.

Bright and early the next day:

DSC03199wd.jpg

…the cheek!

To kick things off, I finished a bit of the machine work and finally got round to waxing the car. Victoria Concours used today for a bit of a change..

After this the plastics, trim, britework etc were attended to.

Replacing the rear registration plate would benefit the back end massively! Oh it’s the little things…

Moved back inside for some interior work..

Leather with LTT kit.

Mats and carpets were agitated with G101 and wiped clean.

Doorcards, plastics and centre console had a G101 wipeover, however, this wasn’t enough. The rear of the interior was well ‘used’… Quite a few ‘kick’ (scuff) marks on the plastics and on the rears of the front seats.

Taking things a step further, G101 was agitated with a Megs brush, but, no joy!

This was the back of the passenger’s seat after the above two hits:

P3300760wd.jpg

I need to go aggressive. A JML Magic Eraser maybe?

Again, G101 applied and light agitation with the above eraser.

The outcome wasn’t perfect, but, much improved..

Same goes for the rear centre-console:

P3300761wd.jpg

P3300762wd.jpg

….and all four of the doorcards!

A general after of the rear:

Glass cleaned inside and out. A few final touches and we’re about there..

The rest of the photos (infact, some of the above were, too) were taken on my back-up cam (for the first time EVER, my SLR battery was run-flat! :( )

I think they've had it since new! Well, 6 years ago they brought it off the BMW Sales chappy who'd ran around in it for approx 3 months..

TBH, it felt really dated inside. Big, bulky, heavy and clunky. (*sniggers*... it rhymes!)

Still, the exteriors easy on the eye! :)

I forgot these two pics somehow..

Leather cleaned upfront and this was the dirt collected:

and the rear seats:

...Kids, who'd have them! :rasp:

Not mocking your work here by asking this!...

This was merely an enhancement rather then full on correction wasn't it?? Still seems a fair few deeper RDS marks unless its just the camera??

I think it is a really nice job, and it is very clean but I think it looked better in the first pic when it was all dirty.

4x4's are not meant to be detailed, not even these snooty ones.

:) Thank you.

Great write up as usual Jim!!!!!!

(is that your place?)

It's not mate, no. Customers' house (just my last four reports have been from the same location)

An enhancement indeed. (the clue was in the thread title :rasp:;))

Good spot though, under intense light, there are still lots of deeper marks in the paint. This photo for instance:

DSC03123wd.jpg

On the left hand side which has been 'enhanced', there are still a flurry of hazes and scratches that remain.

Robbos, I have contacts in your area if you want me to pass them on?

It's good to have a day behind the keyboard today.. I'm not in action again now until Tuesday - yesterdays RR Vogue was re-booked due to weather.. Busy weekend though, a couple of local car shows to attend and I suppose I'd best give mine a once over!
