Best backup software

  GW RS200
Can anyone recommened a good piece of backup software please? Preferably incremental, so that I can go back and restore files from an earlier backup session if required. I used to use Retrospect that came bundled with my external HD, but that absolutely refuses to work with Vista. Any recommendations very much appreciated!

Cheers,

Steve

NTBackup is usually dependable, start->run->"ntbackup". I've never attempted an incremental backup but I think it can use the archive flag so you can backup only new/changed files.

Acronis is good as mentioned for taking images. Ghost32 run from a preinstallation CD such as Ultimate Boot CD 4 Win is also excellent (I think you can do incremental backups with this). If you have another computer check out the Personal Backup Appliance over at www.vmware.com, it works very well but I don't think you can do incremental backups.

NTbackup will do Incremental. Its ok but can be a pain in the ass. But if you are doing it to a HD then the usual issues with Tapes dont rear there heads

And its free and built into Windows
