bent arm - handling issues

  Black 182 + Recaros
After hitting a massive pothole on a roundabout, the steering has been rubbish. I'm getting loads of understeer whilst turning right and the car feels very unsettled at high speeds. (the tracking and balancing have been checked okay).

My local garage have suggested replacing a bent arm (or something simlar to that). They dont promise that this will solve the problem, but they cant find any other (obvious) damage, and this would be the cheapest option to start with.

Does anyone know, how would a bent arm affect the handling ?

Thanks.

Get the tracking checked again by somoen else.

Cound be a bent arm or ball joint etc.

Bent arm messes up the tracking or might only be realy noted under load

Thanks edde.

The tracking was checked by a different garage. I have a detailed report for this.

Don't the garages have a way of checking if something is bent ? It all seems like guess work to me.
