Recently cancelled my claim with Bell Direct and thought everything was sorted.. got the car back and was assured that I'd have one free recovery and all other fee's would be covered.
Phoned them today to suspend my policy until I get a new car (only just found out I can do this...) and was told I can't suspend it because their's an open claim on file. So, went through to claims department who told me there are invoices that need to be paid. I wasn't made aware of these beforehand and was told I won't have any charges!!
Just received a phone call saying that unless I can give a name or a date/time of the specific phone calls (I've spent about 40 quid so far...!) then I will have to pay recovery/storage/fees of around 300 quid!
If I can prove that I was told it'd be free then they will honor this and give my NCB back and allow me to change my policy (and receive a refund if the car is lower cost) free of charge.
They MUST have a log right in front of them of my calls to them and they're just trying everything they can do not to pay! Because "we receive thousands of calls every day we can't go through the logs - we need an exact time". Grrrr!
Where do I stand? I was told at least 3 times by different people that I'd be free!
