Battery query...

Couple of questions.
Would car cut out if the Positive terminal on battery became disconnected after starting?
If positive terminal did become disconnected would this damage/effect electrics in any way?

My mate has just fitted a new battery and lost one of the connecting bolts and cant find another and just needs to drive to a garage to get another!

You definately need the battery 'connected' as this regulates the voltage to 12v, the alternator can rise the voltage considerably without it being connected and possible damage, French electrics aint that robust it would seem!
