amp help pls

ok guys heres the deal....ive got a 2nd hand amp ive just bought wired up to the positive on the battery with the neg on an earthing point on the body work.

the red and white leads from the head unit to the amp and then the sub wired up as per the instructions (as far as i can see).....all good so far...but heres the fly in the ointment......

the amp doesn’t power up.....ive tested it with a meter, and its getting 12v but the power light doesn’t come on and obviously theres no output.

any ideas?!

is the remote working? test between the remote and the neg looking for +12v

Sounds like youve not connected the remote as Dink says. Its the switched positive from the back of the headunit.

i dont mean to sound stupid.....ive never done anything like this b4.....but what is the remote for and where does it come off the back of the HU?

the remote will come from the back of your hu(should be blue with a white stripe)and it gets connected to the amp to switch it on when the hu is on
