alternator belt

car got 43,000 odd on clock, havent had car long, its was due in for belt and tensionsers soon.. i only found out few weeks back alternator belt needs changing 37k.. the car beat me to it,

Thats very unfortunate . Ive done nearly 2k miles on a squeaky tensioner. No issues yet. (Yes i know it needs changing asap. Micro vbelt kit is upstairs waiting to go on) luckily mine is parked up now. Ignition key is knackered .

the garage is looking at car tomz, at worst, valves. head bolts. timing belt kit. head set+head gasket. alternator belt kit. head may need skimming ? plus labour
Make sure they use genuine valves. Otherwise it'll drop a valve. They like doing that on pattern ones.

Mmm that made my stomach sink, been told AE valves are what renault use, And good quality. read on here AE BGA FAI valves are fine to use, plus i dont intend to rev the balls off it, :tongueout:
That one failed at 2000rpm. I've seen no end of pattern valves fail. Renault or Supertech imo
Not wishing to appear opportunist, but I have a set of genuine Renault valves from an engine I have stripped. The engine was running fine before disassembly.
They engine has, however, covered 120,000 miles. Might be worth getting the opinion of a specialist to see if they are an option if you are interested. I can mic up the stems if required.

i appreciate your advice and letting me no of pattern valves, and wish out of peace of mind i got genuine valves now, the boy has already started rebuilding head he does a lot of engine rebuilds and said AE are fine ?? just out of curiosity did engine with dropped valve have standard cams,
Yup 100% standard. Seriously, save yourself the pain of one letting go and get genuine valves in there. It will be new engine time soon otherwise.

Not in stock at the mo, I'm waiting for another set to come in as it is. But they're due this week

just a update, tryed every where to get supertech valves for this week all out of stock, so phoned reno they had them in stock, hopefully will get car back on road by end of week, thank you every one for your advice on pattern valves etc.
