Alpine head unit - loss of bass!!??

Hi - i have a Alpine head unit i had a usb rigged up to it and the usual clio speakers, one morning i had the music on it switched itself off then i had trble but NO bass, ive takne the unit out now as i sold the car, but any ideas whats wrong if it is the h-unit , just i was gona flog the thing!

could be owt m8, from what youve said it sounds like it shorted summert if its powered off, could be a voltage regulator for the sound processor or part of the processor itself (maybe not if other half is working) or could be a secondary amp if it has diff stages for diff freq ranges..

Best bet is to whip the cover off and have alook for owt black and burnt.
Depends if its worth repairing / paying sum1 to look at too
