Is it possible to spray my alloys myself without them peeling and looking shabby. if so what do i need to do?

If you don't even know what you need I wouldn't bother mate. But its filler, alot of wet and dry sandpaper, rattle cans. primer, paint, lacquer.

great guide..... but personally i would rather pay a little more and have done by a pro, just seems like a lot of work and risk not to mention time all just to save 50 quid

seeing as your in dudley mate, i would just take em to city powder coaters (http://www.citypowdercoating.co.uk/), prices start at £20 a wheel to be chemically stripped, shot blast, sand, powder coat and lacquered... and for an extra £5 you can have custom colours to be a bit different.
