Aftermarket exhaust insurance hit

I'm thinking about replacing the exhaust on my 172 and I'm wondering what the average hit is for most people on here, if any. I'd ring the insurer up but they're a bit clueless about mods, so I'd rather put that off until the last minute :dead:

Thinking about a Yozzasport 2.5" if that helps

OP - Bell wanted 110 at the start of my policy for an 'exhaust system'. That can be anything from a cat back to a full system iirc.

They can put you on a "modified car scheme"...

IIRC my car standard would of been £870 fully comp.

Modified... fully stripped, bucket seats, harnesses, exhaust, re-map, air filter set-up, uprated brakes, coilovers £659 fully comp.

I do not know how it works out to that figure, but that is what I pay with 3yrs NCB, 6 points on license and one none fault accident.. :S

Flux have a range of specialist underwriters they can use for heavily modified cars, if I remember correctly. I really tried to go with them when shopping around, but no matter what I said their quote was sky high. Oh well

Yup. With flux if you mod your car its cheaper. they wanted 5k off me for my 182 standard but with upgraded breaks and a zorst it cost me 1800. Rang them up and declared a cage, buckets and coilovers and it will add 0 when i come to put them in.

When I was shopping it seemed to be up to them. Couple of calls and a few emails, all of them mentioning the (admittedly light) mods, etc and they were having none of it in terms of a cheaper specialist policy.

When you ring up and the woman at reception says how can she help, tell her to put you through to the red department. All the other departments haven't got a clue. Spoke to one monkey who didn't know what Braided brake lines are. Red deptment guys knew everything. IBT's engine conversions etc.

It might we worth giving Noel Dazely a call come renewal time, they are a brokers but know what they are on about, a few vee peoople are with them.

Yeh it is. That department specialise in modified policys whilst the rest are normal. They are supposed to transfer you over to them if you mention mods but they dont.

AhmedRSi, I'm with Elephant at the mo. They're nice enough, and do most things over email which I prefer (there's no ambiguity about what's being said, and it's all down on paper so to speak).

As mentioned before, Im with bell. Seems to be a very different story everytime you speak to someone else on the phone. Also, they are notorius for charging extra for every mod!

That would be excellent I've seen a vid of yours and it's what turned me on to Yozza systems. Sounds brilliant, only thing I'm worried about is the noise at 60-70 and whether it's too loud.
