Have a few questions as welding or machining are not in my skill set. I currently have a custom rack with a weld on quick release but want to do some custom work to the oem column. My idea is to basically extend what the oem rack is, instead of just having a round bar welded to the where the oem wheel or a boss goes, a hollow tube will go around it and a bearing used to give extra rigidity.
Im not sure of materials so are these the sort of things to use?

Idea is to trim some of the inside away of tube for the bearing to seat and circlip. Also trimmed at the column end to be welded around where the ignition barrel is (can the column be welded here?)
Pretty much this
This is just the base idea, also a couple of support braces from the extension, I have my wheel quite close and I dont want any flex as theres more weight.
One of the problems is the existing weld qr, will I have to buy another male end for the qr? Its a rapfix by works bell but I cant see their site anymore, I think its been down for a while.
Im based in east sussex so if anyone on here can do this sort of thing Id rather support a member
Cheers
