Advice on an HPI check...

  Clio 182FF
Greets!

I decided to HPI check the car that I was looking at (05 Clio 182) and I need some advice on it.

All came back good minus that the RAC check flagged this:
'Interest registered against a previous plate'

Plate Transfer

  • The current plate was transferred to this vehicle on 02/02/2007
  • DW0**** was applied to this vehicle on 29/07/2005
    • This VRM has been recorded as having an outstanding finance agreement
    • An outstanding finance agreement was recorded on 07/01/2008 against a CLIO CAMPUS 3DR

  • WL**** was applied to this vehicle on 30/06/2005
    • There are no interests recorded against WL****

Also, the car has had 4 previous owners, is that high for a 4 year old car of this nature? My pops seems to think so.

Cheers.

4 is very high... not sure exactly what it means because of the campus/182 bit, doesnt make sense. Its worth giving the DVLA or someone a call possibly just to ask what the wording means...

Yeah, we're going to investigate further tommorrow. I assume that if someone bought it from new then had it taken off them then it was resold that's 2 owners right there. The car looks mint but then if somethings too good to be true, it generally is! Any other thoughts anyone?

Yeah, that's what pops said. It ran like a dream when I looked at it though grrrr now I'm in two minds.

I'm the fifth owner of my car in 4 years and it runs like a dream, not had a single problem in over a year now, touch wood.

Fatal last words lol. Yeah it could be totally innocent and coincidental but it does play on your mind.

That last Escort I had, had 7 owners and all I had to replace was a battery and tyres in a year.

See my thoughts were that a performance car people may chop and change more often, but having said that I'm trading in a perfectley reliable Clio that I've had from new so I might have to pull my hair out.

Would expect cars such as mine to do alot more trading than performance cars, but providing the car was mint and with FSH it wouldn't bother me.

^^^ Yeah & you have the people who buy the cars & dont take in to account insurance, running costs, servicing etc & realise pretty quickly they cant actually afford the car!

I was thinking of an RAC check and as someone said it could all be innocent. Pops is going to talk to them tommorrow as he knows a bit more than me about the car game. I get too wound up :(

Surely spending £150 or so on a check and being innocent is better than spending thousands on a dog? It's just for piece of mind really.

I'm sure there's a car buying guide on here somewhere for things to look for.
