Anyone here with Admiral or had any experiences?

Just had my renewal from Privilege through, they are normally pretty good but this year it just didn't seem great.

Popped the details into Admiral's site, £150 cheaper!!

Don't think so, Admiral seem to be the same group as Elephant etc, Privilege are same as Direct Line, at least going by how their websites have been made.

I could be wrong though :) Either way, there's a hell of a difference in prices, not far off half the price.

I've always been with the Admiral Group (either through them, Bell or Elephant). Always been cheapest, staff have always been helpful and never had any problems. Never had to make a claim, so no idea what that side is like.

I work in Claims for above company.

Were the best out of them all ;)

I'm currently in the process of making a claim with Admiral. It was then that truck rear ended me on the 11/09/09. Claim is still outstanding and the person dealing with my claim is useless. Apparently court proceedings were issued on the 08/03/10 as the person who hit me whom was driving an artic lorry was not insured.... Rang the solicitor and files/correspondence was last recieved in November despite the claims handaler saying it has been discussed several times and being passed over on the 08/03/10. Honestly I've had so many issues and it seems to be the absoloute monkeys that are claims handalers. I asked various and annoying questions and it seems that in this instance I have been failed by Admiral. I am going to make a complaint actually. I have just this minute got off the phone and pretty pissed off.

Are you trying the club insurers for a comparison?

To be honest I never found any of them competitive when I used to look when I was younger so have to say I've never really tried since!

Can I fire you a quick pm with some rough details and the quote just ot see if it's something you can get near?

On phone to priv now seeing what they can do, they can't do anything near apparently.

That sucks Jamie, I had issues when sorting out a claim many years ago, was also the legal side that were dragging their heels and to be fair to my insurer at the time it wasn't them who were being crap, just the legal company sorting it out.

Im with Admiral... Just started my second policy with them.

Was on single car last year, and now on multicar!

By far the best price for me (well Elephant was always £20 higher and then the rest of my quotes were ridiculous)

I was with Bell and had a couple of unfortunate experiences.

They set the policy up to automatically renew, in my case I received no paperwork for the renewal. Only found out about the renewal (and terrible price) when I called for a quote - thankfully phoned before they had processed the auto renewal & managed to get the price back somewhere reasonable.

The following year I called up a few months before renewal and requested they did not automatically renew. Month later got a letter through asking for my insurance certificate to be returned to them. Called them up and they claimed I had cancelled my insurance a month previous!

They listened back to the phone calls and admitted I had not cancelled, but offered no refund for the period I was not covered for. Took 3 letters and a further month to get that amount agreed, and the head of Admiral Group customer service eventually did contact me and refund me the value of remainder of years insurance, about £150 all in, as a goodwill gesture.

Just to really f**k me off, when policy was up and they automatically renewed and tried to take the cash again!

Strangely enough know 2 other people who've had big issues. Another friend randomly got a letter as I did, asking to return the certificate. In his case they claimed they could not determine how his policy was cancelled & he never got it reinstated, instead went elsewhere.

Other was a few years back when a good friend was stopped by police as car showing on ANPR as not insured. Admiral had taken his money, issued a certificate but somehow not registered it. That took a while to sort out & was very awkward with the police.

Won't be touching any of that group ever again, although may well be that their computer systems have changed, ruling out any of the above issues.

Learnt then that cheap wasn't always best.

You will get bad stories about all insurance companies on the internet

Customer service and price wise iv never had a problem with Admiral, when you call out of hours is always really scripted etc, but they are still friendly , never had to make a claim though

Yeah, I used to be with Flux and I never had any problems with them at all over the years I was with them, even through a couple of claims (both non fault, 1 was clear cut, the other had to fight for).

admiral were fine for the two years previous but put their price up £130 on my renewal for me this year so am now with aviva.

Been with Elephant for 8 years, always cheapest by a significant amount, play them off against admiral most years. Call in the evening to get the Nova Scotia call centre instead of the slumdog pish

I'm with Admiral but have had good and bad experiances.

The price they quoted was by far and away the cheapest and then with multicar became even cheaper.

My issue came when I had my megane stolen last december. Some of the people were really helpful while the claims handler knew nothing. They offered me £6k for a car worth closer to £9k. Managed in the end with varius emails and calls to get this up to an agreed figure. I'm now in discussion with the financail ombudsman as when I took the policy out they had promised to give me a full years no claims even though I had only 10 months with the last insurer (due to having company cars!!) I'm now looking for some further funds from them.

THe clio is insured with them and was the cheapest quote again.

It seems that when it comes to cover and premium they are great but if you have a claim then they do struggle with some things.

As people have said you can get this with any company so you take a chance no matter where you go.

They seem to be the cheapest insurance company of all, but apparently are sh*t once you need to make a claim, regardless of whether it's your fault or not.
Mind you most insurance companies are w*****s, thing is they have the public to spoon feed them anyway as car insurance is a legal requirement in this country!

I'm with admiral too, very good customer services! Even rang me to say happy birthday and see if i had received my documents!

The best bit is though they were over £1000 (yes i did say £1k) cheaper than anyone else i tried! Even specialist drink drive places.

  BMW 320d M-Sport
I was with Admiral last year, Elephant at present. Same group but Elephant were cheaper second time round. The price was lowest and touch wood I've had no need to put in a claim so it's been as easy as you could hope for really.

When I tried to renew last year with Admiral it was cheaper to become a new member than to have a renewal, by about £150!

  Maybe a 172 Cup..
Just done a multi-car quote for me and missus. £1186.......
Me on a 2000' 172, 31 with 9 years ncb
Wife on a 2003' 172,28 with 2 years ncb

In dodgy postcode. Suprised my seperate quote was over £500:eek:

Soon to be doing some ringing around I think.....
