Acoustic Valve removal....

  No more clio's for me!
I know, I know....jumping on the band wagon

But hey, it looked like a simple mod, so i thought i'd give it ago! :)

Finished it quite easily, with a little bit of techy support from other CS members - thanks. Just been out for a spin to hear and feel the fruits of my labour and.........wow!

Hear that induction roar! Love it! currently got the caf angled in at the bottom grill, its not ideal but i wanted to keep my fog light. Though If you look at the OE caf its a massive improvement! :D

Probably gained about 1000lb/ft of torque and can do a 1/4mile in under 10 seconds...lol :rasp:

Does feel a little more responsive low down at say 1-2k rpm, but maybe just be a placebo? The noise increase is great tho. :)

is the airbox end of the caf connected to the airbox or left pointing at the airbox hole ?

Glad you have removed this piece of cr*p. For anyone that doesn't know what it looks like, here is a pic:

Yep its under the arch liner, just unclip it and the valve is bolted to the bracket that holds the horns on. 10 min job :)

unclipping the bloody arch liner is the worst part! plus taking wheels on and off all the time is making the bolt holes look rough - might do it oneday

You need a replacement pipe though don't you? Or can you just remove it and not replace anything?

Unless your fitting an induction kit with it's own CAF removing this is a waste of time....may give you the placebo effect of more power/speed because of the noise but won't affect performance.

Or fit your own air feed an place of the valve and leave it disconnected frm the box to give a subtle induction roar!

guys guys i am really wanting to do this any chance of a step by step guide as to what needs to be done and what tools are required and i have heard a wire needs plugging up with a screw is this true... please can people who have done this please draft something any specialist tools needed

Surely if you leave it disconnected from the box your going to get warmer air entering it.

Always cool down near the valve so I'd be inclined to attach it and seal it properly to the box
