AA warranty

  182 ff with cup pack's
hi

ive just had a fone call off the AA offering me a 2 year warranty on my 182.

my car has covered 58k and they said it covers all the important parts of the car like gearbox, belts, cooling and so on..........

now the price they want is £19 a month witch i think is not that bad all i would pay is £50 on each claim and they pay the rest.

anybody on here used them and if so what they like.

thanks cal

As above get the policy in writing 1st, then you can check what is and what isnt actually covered, they all say "major parts" but there are lots of clauses. A lot of posts have been made about extended warranties, and the general consensus is their not generally worth the cash.
£19 a month (230 a year) isnt so cheap when you look at it like that.....

We used AA waranties at my garage but have now changed to carplan, the AA were ok but was very black and white on alot of issues to do with engine and transmission, good example we had a rear caliper seizure and AA said wear and tear and carplan paid straight out.

My cousin has the same cover on hs C2 and his car stopped working properly. Car had gone into Limp home mode. He called AA - and they sent someone out. Got a new CAT and lambda sensors and all he had to pay was the excess........

I thought it was pretty good - and he even managed to get them down to £13 a month instead of the 19..........!

Well worth the money in my eyes - especially for a French car lol.

I don't think it's worth the hassle to be honest. I took one out on my 172 and was told 'everything is covered' when I was sold the warranty.

Only when I was home and read through everything they have loads of excuses lined up like 'wear and tear', 'perishable' etc to get out of paying.

You have to ask yourself, other than paying for a service will you spend £230 a year on repairs?

You can get AA breakdown and repair cover for just over £100 a year by getting basic breakdown cover then adding the repair cover for 65.
The terms and conditions were better than the warrenty the garage offered me appart from their was a £500 limit per claim.
the main problem is any work done done needs to be done by a VAT registered place.
it paid out for a new radiator fitted without any hastle for me so i'm happy with it.

£280+ if you take into account that if you did make a claim you would have to pay the £50 excess for every sepertate repair.

Yes but that would be money well spend it the cambelt snapped and you needed a new engine...

But as sods law would have it the car would run like forever and a day lol
