2000 clio 1.4 sport
Afternoon all,
As you can tell i am a total newb to this site.
I bought a W reg Clio 1.4 Sport exactly a week ago today and have had a problem with the plip occur twice already.
The key seems to be fine, the red led always lights up and i've had the signal strength tested by a mechanic who said the signals very strong.
The problem seems to be completely random but basically when i get out of the car and press the plip button nothing happens, then when i put the key in the ignition and turn it absolutely nothing happens. It's as if the car doesn't have a battery connected.
This first happened on Saturday morning at a local tyre shop. The fitter said he'd do it manually and jumped in the car ( i didn't see what he did) but he jumped back out of the car after about 5 seconds and told me it definitely wasn't my key as he couldn't do it manually (whatever that means).
He then took the negative battery terminal off and reconnected it and everything worked fine again....until this morning when exactly the same thing happened again.
Again i removed the terminal and reconnected to quick fix the problem. A friend said the only thing he can think is that the receiver is earthing out?
I'm not mechanically minded so this means nothing to me.
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
