182 funny noise

Car was fine last night at speed and being thrown about, but this morning I noticed a new noise.

Sounds like its coming from the front left corner - kinda knocking noise. Only happened after driving through small pools of standing water by the kerbside (unavoidable today).

What might this be? I think it must be to do with the water getting onto something, brakes perhaps? Throughout the day its dried up and so i didnt get this again when driving home there, weird!

Ball joint worn, top mount worn, loose top mount, Loose wheel nuts. Driveshaft gaiter damaged.

I'd check wheel nuts first.

checked the gaitors immediately afterwards, all still attached. havent checked the wheel nuts, hasnt happened again since... why does it happen after going through water?
