182 brake fluid?

Wife came home from work last night, saying the 182 had a load of lights up on the dash, so took a look , and it appears to be low brake fluid.
I'm going to top it up tonight, but just wanted to check whether they use DOT 4 or DOT 5 fluid as standard? Don't want to put the wrong stuff in! (search didn't pull anything up)
Also anyone got a good way of topping up without spilling fluid everywhere - access isn't great down there (i have got the engine cover off already!)...

use a funnel, or a rolled up magazine (obviously remove the engine cover)

or another idea is cut the bottom off a 2L coke bottle and use that as a funnel

you'll have to do a complete flush through though if you're gonna go for that
