172 starting issue

  Trophy, Flamer, BG
The speedo clocks decided to stop working on my 172. I managed to get hold of another one from a clio sport and swapped them over. Clocks now reading correctly and all was fine! Couple days later car started not wanting to start almost like it has an immobiliser fault?!

Immobiliser light goes out, turn key and nothing, won't even turn over. I try again.. Turn key and 5 seconds later with the key still turned it may or may not start. When it does turn over it will start first time.

What could be the issue?

as per above, most likely to be loose connection to the starter. The wire at the top is a spade connector and can come loose over time. easily fixed with drivers wheel off
