hi all

i have just got some new grooved rear discs for my 172 (52)
they do not come with the bearings pressed in do you think i will be able to reuse the old ones?
do you think they will come out of the old discs easily?

you can reuse the old ones i have done it on my own cars in the past but i wont do it for customers as pressing them out tends to press the grease out of the bearing and it shortens its life a fair bit

and cutting the disc takes too long

plonking it in the disc positioning it on the press and pulling the lever a few times

takes 2mins including a tea break

This is not for the home mechanic unless you have a press in the corner of your garage. Buy the bearings from your local factor for £20 then ask a kind local garage to press them in for a £5.
