172 gearbox to 182 gearbox

i was just wondering if anyone could help me or if anyone has tried this. i was thinking about taking my 172 diff with speedo drive swapping it with the diff from the 182 gearbox and also swapping the front casting from the 172 with the 182 and just using the gears and backbox of the 182. does anybody thing this will work?

thats what i thought i just wanted TO no also if the speedo would work with the 182 box if i did this.

You could also drill out the 182 casing to fit the speedo drive, and just take the plastic drive from the diff in the 172 and fit it to the 182's.
