Really dont want to have to do this but I need a car thats a bit comfier (Mk5 Golf GTI DSG) now due to my runaround 172 breaking and just wanting something thats a bit friendlier for everyday driving.

The car is not mint as some will describe their cars but it's in fantastic condition. Ideally it could do with an aftermarket ECU to get the best but drives perfect as it is. If you broke the car you'd probably get all your money back and even make some so you cant lose really

On the way back from Leeds 5th gear kept popping out and now won't go into 5th at all. You can feel it go in but there is no drive. All the other gears work fine

Call me old fashioned but personally for 9k i'd want not only the Pefect example of a Phase 1 172 but id want two aswell.

People still think modified cars return profit...? - Im out

This is DannyR's and is worth the monies, you seen the power its running and the spec of the engine? Its also been build by one of if not the best Renault tuner in the UK.

£9500 for two cars... That's not terrible is it really. I saw this the other day and thought it was pretty reasonable.

If you were planning on doing this conversion yourself then you'd save yourself a whole heap of time and money.

Hugely limiting the market by selling effectively 2 broken clio's. A Clio enthusiast will be the only person likely to appreciate the work and parts that are in the conversion. To everyone else, it's 2 broken old hot hatches.

Yea mine, already a link on here. Considering the standard supercharger converison is £4.5k I don't think this is a bad deal, seats and cage are worth £2.5k plus the build the engine has had its had rediculous amounts spent! I was going to break it and could of returned about £10-12k but after the grief I got, it did seem a waste.

The engine costs total silly amounts of £k's not a part has been left untouched, the reserve on eBay is at £8k which I think is an absolute steal for what it is!

330bhp in a car weighing less than a ton that can put the power down very well, quite nice to have that power there!

Surely the car would have a better chance of selling if you dropped the new gear box in the car for them .can't see anyone paying 8.5k for a car that dosent go in 5th gear .nice car just a lot of money for a old hot hatch.

Its a bit of a job getting gearbox out of one car and into another in this weather! I will get it done if it needs to be but for what I bought it for 3-4 months ago to the work its had done to the price I want for it its a big loss for me!

I think you're crazy for not spending the money to get the 'box replaced. If it was a £1k shed you're selling, then fair enough. But you're wanting a lot of cash for a broken car. Get it fixed and you're more likely to find a buyer.

I still think you're mental mate tbh. Just fix the box..

You sold up and bought another two? Do you not learn? :p

A ph1 isn't just for Christmas, IT IS FOR LIFE

I was going to to the box myself, but its f**king cold at the moment and space isn't great plus no garages open at the moment.

I don't really want a local "that'll do" garage touching the car, as you can probably agree with me there. I basically wanted it up for sale so put it up for sale as it is!

I broke my original SC one due to the hassle of the belt slipping, then bought a ph1 for a runaround as my R32 was wrote off and I wasn't using the silly MX5 that they gave me as a hire car. Then wanted something quicker and I loved my original SC so why not buy the guy who built my one's car :)

It doesnt matter what way you cut it, the mentality that its had XYZ spent on it is only an admission that you're as delusional as the advert, but yeah - why not :)

At the end of the day is there any real difference with spending £20k+ on a build for a 2.0 evo engine? I don't get how the advert is dilusional going on prices of engine builds, supercharger conversions and mint ph1 costs!

It's not worth it mate .its just what you chose to pay for it .6k for 300 odd brake is madness imo.

Not worth it? Would you like to tell every individual company that has parts in this engine that there parts are not worth it?

I only paid x amount for the car, I'm only saying what the engine is worth. If you would like to come have a seat in the car and I take you out in it I would like to hear you opinion.

Having owned a long line of clios in the past few years I can say that a bog standard was one of the most fun, but when you have a car that can handle this well and can pretty much play with any car and gie it a run for it's money, that feeling is priceless!

i wouldnt get too heated up, these days some cars r worth more in parts than in one piece thats the way the mkt is, you just have to take that fact:rolleyes::rolleyes:

and its gonna very unliekly someone will pay u 9k for a cat with a turbo'd engine when u can buy them cars unmod'd for 3k!

u might wanna try it in one of the rally magazine's (autosport etc...) where u get the more specialist buyer lookin

I know it's worth more in parts, I've said that over and over again. Hence the reason I thought about stripping it before.

I also find it hilarious you think it's a Clio with a turbo. This proves you have not even taken time to read the advert and your trying to get your point across! In sure to have a valid point reading the advert should probably be the first step, not just jumping on the band wagon!

Also yes you can by unmodified one for £3k but I'm not selling an unmodified one am I, I'm also not asking £9k, I would happily take £8k as mentioned, s**t, I'd take £7.5k to make someone happy!

It boils down to the old saying "it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it" I suspect it's unlikely you'll find someone willing to part with 9K for it irrespective of what parts have been fitted or work has been carried out. Modding cars is a hobby which you have to appreciate you will ALWAYS lose money doing, whether you sell the car as a whole or break it and sell the parts you'll only ever get a fraction of the investment you made. Some people are totally unrealistic about this sadly, some more so than others. You can make a shopping list all day long of labour and parts on the car but people simply wont pay that amount for it. In your shoes I'd break it, you'll recoup more of the money than attempting to sell it as a whole IMO.

lol at s**tting on his parade. I've seen lesser specc'ed cars priced higher tbh. With the box refurbished I can see someone having it for 7 or 8k no problem. Will save you a few bob if you were thinking of doing it yourself.. period

totally agree with you BUT many of the 0000's who do modify them cant seem to realise this and seem to think the cars worth double/ triple the price, more so evident on vw's when owners cant seem to udnerstand that putting alloys/ sprayin in a LOUD colour and tartin up the interior doesnt add 0000's to the value above a standard 1
