Well as some may know, i do alloy fitting in the evening for a company that specialise in Genuine Mercedes, BMW, MINI, Smart, Brabus etc

I do this in the evenings as my second job, but yesterday evening has to be to most worrying tyre fitting job ever!

The wheels were 4 Genuine Brabus Monoblock 6's in the special edition 3 piece version, made for the Maclaren SLR. The customer was one of the car showrooms on Park Lane (yep, where all the supercars live) But the car itself has just been bought, and they needed these wheels for this weekend as its being shown off at the Goodward festival of speed.

The 4 wheels themselves came in at £19136 plus £1000 for the tyres.... ouch, and theres me thinking HRE or DPE are expensive..

Anyway few pictures to show off the wheels and fitting.

Never concentrated so hard in my life!!

Anyway if anyone is going goodward this weekend, look out for a SLR on these wheels, if you see it grab a picture for me and ask the owner if he just got it, if so mention the fitter was bricking it while fitting them

bit easier when youve got decent machines, noticed the pressure sensitive valves too!

i fit tyres etc for a living and i hate 235/35.19s, my mates did some Zonda wheels the other day, just 20's though so not too bad. biggest ive done is 22's.

took 2 of us to do the 335/30 18's and the 295/30 19's on the lambos, luckily they were track cars and the wheels were battered to hell already!

its a bit easier when you dont have to worry about scratching them, day to day its mostly 205/55.16's so a lot easier than most.

forgot to mention i hate runflats too!

i did my 2x 235 35 19s on my audi the other day, so fricking tight was unreal!!

we were changing the 335/30's in the back of a 7.5ton truck at the side of runways with some naff dunlop tyre machine (that i swear was a cheap far east rip off fake machine)

Gash tbh, would not spend £20k on those wheels.

My mate says R8 wheels are a b*tch to fit tyres to with the pressure sensors etc.

They would be easy to fit with one of those gay helper arms. We just use bars in the well of the wheel to ease low profiles on.

Going by the price of the actual car they went on,its like a 182 owner fitting a set of fox alloys from halfords...

Cheap compared to some wheels.

Have a look how much Veyron SuperSport wheels cost, and how often they have to be replaced!!!

Brabus must see people coming. I can't actually see how its physicaly possible to put 20K's worth of work and material into what is, by all accounts a cnc machined split rim.

I think it would look better on 13" euro wheels with stretched tyres...
I feel disappointed that theres a whole world of money out there I will never appreciate or experience..
