hi, probably been nearly 5 years since I've posted.......well after selling my 1.6 clio, think you called in a rsi in the uk nearly 5 years ago and now having sold my mini cooper.....and now driving my wifes old 1 series, have been toying with the idea of looking for a mk1 172 to play around...

traded in my clio today....end of an era, just 14 days shy of 5 years......what a great car, so many awesome memories.
bought another little car - this time one thats made in England.
went down to poweflow this morning after receiving my 182 exhaust surround from K-Tec last week. Just a backbox was on the menu today....
nice job, apart from the massive gouge in my bumper!! Nice one.....

I've decided to get my spoiler colour coded.
can someone tell me if when you remove it, can you remove the plasic part with brake light? or do the painters have to mask it off so as to not paint it ?

anyone had the wheel re-done in leather ? mines awfully worn and there a few places that can re-cover it near me....not cheap, but less than a new MOMO wheel or similar.......got pics ?
whats the best way to "refurb" headlamps, mine are quite rough in parts...I assume from just driving and sand a things hitting them...in fact almost like parts are "sand blased"...

I have a feeling I'm gonna need some new shocks soon.....
at the moment I have stock shocks with Apex 40mm springs.
If I have them checked out and they are worn should I:
a)buy standard shocks and go back to standard springs ?
b)standard shocks and put apex's on again- won't this...
anyone know exactly how to do this......I know there is a nut under the plastic cap but once thats off its still fixed on - do I need some brute strength + WD40 or is there something else ?

have searched can't seem to get a definitive answer, possibly the only set of 182 rims to be sold 2nd hand in SA are up for grabs - will they fit with NO problems on my mk2 ph1 (40mm apex drop) ?
an impusive descision today, removed the towbar....don't ask how I will carry the mountainbike from now on, but it does look better (and lighter)....

want to repaint my calipers a new colour, currently hammerite black......will the paint peel pr anything ?
I want to refurb that 1/2 circle plastic bit behind the wiper on the rear window. Its all scrateched and faded, thought I'd spray it.
I undid a bolt on the wiper but it didn't move.
I opened the boot and removed the big plastic trim - there's 2 bolts there.....
am I missing something?
