Just a small update. Went through the MOT today, failed on the windscreen washer pump which I've now changed. Mechanic said there was no play in any of the wheel bearings so obviously like we thought, the garage is trying to get out of fixing my sisters car.
Will name and shame now as I know...
Thought as much with my limited knowledge lol. Thankyou all for your help! So just to clarify, if I jack the front of the car up and spin the front wheels, will I be able to hear if the wheel bearing is on it's way out? And also do you need a press to change the bearings on the front?
Just...
It's got it's MOT test tomorrow morning so we'll see if these wheel bearings need replacing...
I take it, the MOT won't check for anything to do with the belts and the tensioner will it?
Thanks
I think the receptionist is a part time mechanic in her spare time the way she goes on.
Regarding the wheel bearings, is it true you don't know which one needs being replaced without taking it apart?
I've only ever checked rear wheel bearings and it's been obvious when the needed being...
Hello all,
My sister had the tensioner changed on the drive belt a week ago, but in the last few days it's started making a noise again so she took it back to the garage today to have them hopefully adjust the tensioner.
They said it's not the tensioner, it's the front wheel bearings. The...
Hello all,
The radiator fan has decided to break up and start to scratch against the radiator so needs to be changed ASAP. Seems a really difficult part to find from a car supplier, I've phoned 3 and none of them stock it.
The bracket for the fan has item number 8200098041A
The motor on the...
Hello all,
My sisters 2005 1.4 clio went to the garage today to have a belt tensioner changed as it was really noisy. She picked the car up at 5 when the garage shut and only had a 2 mile journey home. In that time she's told me on about 4 or 5 times the car was really juddering and engine...
I had the same problem mate, changed the pump and all was back to normal. The pump cost me £6 and fitting was easy, just need to lift up the scuttle tray on the passenger side and pull the old one out and slot the new one in
I've got the paint now, so I will give it a go, going to look terrible a non painted bumper on his car, even if the paint job doesn't go too well, atleast the colour should match haha.
Thankyou for your advice, much appreciated.
I would much prefer to take it to a body shop but it's for my dad and at the minute he's not in a position to be able to afford it I don't think :/
I'll give it a go, if it goes pear shaped, then at a later date, he'll have to pay a professional to...
Yeah, I'm now pretty sure it's not been primered and Ive just been an idiot. I only done a very small patch before realising something was wrong and removed the paint with a dab of white spirit so it's back to how I bought it. Can anyone help me with what primer I need? Plastic primer or just...
Ah that's probably the problem then haha! If the panel is plastic, would I need plastic primer? Also, would 1 coat be enough or is it safer with 2?
Sorry for such novice questions!
Getting myself very confused over what I'm doing wrong!
Right, a deer ran out infront of my dads car on the way to work and cracked all his front bumper. Luckily only the bumper was damaged and we bought a new bumper from a motor shop. It says on the bumper, ready to paint, which I thought...
I had this problem last year, progressively got worse until I couldn't start the car. AA ended up coming out and diagnosed it straight away saying its a poor connection to the starter motor. Cleaned the connection with abit of wire wool and has been great ever since. He said he's seen it before...
Trying to upgrade from my expression interior. I've got a 5 door model so most likely I'll have to keep my current doorcards. Looking for a set of sport seats or even cup/dynamic seats.
Let me know if you're selling :)
I'm in the Great Yarmouth/Norwich area
Thanks :)

Hello all,
Cambelt change is now overdue and I really need to get it sorted. Being a student means the money side of it is a problem but I've heard it's quick difficult to do yourself and even garages in the past have messed it up.
Can anyone recommend where I could take it for a reasonable...
