Yes it appears to go through them all but then just displays connection link error or words to those effect depending on which reader. I’ve now tried a 3rd reader and still the same
Ok thanks for the advice guys. I am doing it in the correct manor I believe, connect the reader, then ignition on. I have checked the pins on the reader and all look good but not sure how I’m meant to go about checking the ones on the obd port
Hi, i have a generic cheepo fault code reader that i have used on many vehicles before succesfully. However when connecting it to my 197 i get an error of no connection. I know the obd port is getting power because its powering the reader but it just wont connect to the ecu. I also borrowed a...
Had my bumper off to replace a headlight ballast and now the horn doesn't work. I've checked the fuse and it's still fine. I've also taken the bumper off again and removed the horn connecters, cleaned them up and replaced them but still no good. Any ideas?
cheers
Found out about the auto lights and it looks like I disabled them by accident so that's now working again. Guess it wasn't related to the drivers dipped beam going out at all
I don't know if this helps with the diagnostic or not but I've just noticed that the auto function of the lights is now no longer working as well. Not sure if this is a normal issue when a light goes or not?
Hi, my drivers side dipped beam (the xenon one) stopped working today. I took the bumper off and swapped over the bulb from the passengers side to make sure it wasn't that. Still not working. Tried swapping over the bit that attaches onto the back of the bulb (sorry don't know the name of this...
Hi,
Tony12345 did you cure fix your daughters car? If so do you fancy sharing your secret because my cars doing something very similar sounding and it would be great to get it fixed
Cheers
Jim
Ok. I'll try disconecting and cleaning the throttle body this weekend and see if that makes any difference. I'll also have a look at that canister to see if I can spot any problems with it
Thanks for the advice so far but any other suggestions please keep them coming
What model of 172 is it you have? I've got a phase 1 and I changed my bulbs last weekend. Very simple job, just twist 1/4 turn anti clockwise and pull out. If you have the handbooks for the car it tells you in there about changing them
Hi guys
I've got a 2000 x phase 1 172 which has taken a likeing to cutting out when the revs drop to idle speed. I got some advice on hear previously and everyone suggested it was the icv so I've fitted a brand new one and it still happens. It seams to do it more when the car is hot. Once it...
Right, I got a new icv and fitted it yesterday. At first it seamed to have fixed the problem, eg not cutting out at junctions, but once I got home after a short drive it happened again. Any ideas?
Oh and please forget the bit in my original question about the speedo not working because that...
Hi guys I've got a problem with my 2000 Clio 172 phase 1 cutting out at junctions and I believe thus is cause by a dirty or faulty idle control valve. I want to take a look at mine to see what condition it's in but I've no idea what or where I'm looking for. Does anybody have any pics of this in...
Hi guys, I previously had a Clio 172 and loved it so I've just bought another. I had a bit of a problem with it though. When it's warmed up it can sometimes cut out when pulling up to a junction or such other times that the engine would normally drop to tickover revs. It starts again no bother...
whats it 2 u?! im handing it in 2 a main dealer and they have major allowances 4 these things. would u pay good money 2 fix it so they can stick it on their forecourt at a big markup without even lifting the bonnet!
my engine management light came on a few days ago, the car has bn driving fine with no mishaps. it occasionally brings on the serv light and airbag light 2 but only 4 a few mins.
the problem is that im trading the car in and dont want any hassles so wondered íf there was some way 2 turn it...
well, update time, i have run the car for a week with the engine management light (due to work commitments i couldnt get it in to the dealers) and it has been running perfect. i took it on a bit of a run today and gave it some beans! ;) after that drive i left the car for about an hour then...
yeah will do. i tried the in-dash minor fault finder thing today (by holding the button on end of wiper stalk before turning on the ignition) but it came up fault clear. im guessing the fault code will be stored in the other bit of the ecu
*UPDATE*
Jumped in the car today and the light in the middle of the dash didnt come on (the one that looks like a heartbeat) but the engine management light stayed on. today it drives fine, no power loss and will rev right up to the limiter with no problem.
