So had a bit of a hairy moment in the wet and thought the mazda had had it. Luckily just needed a flat spot in the wheel straightened and a new tyre for grand total of £85. So to celebrate, here are a couple of terrible quality pics with no changes since the last post. Sorry, will get some SLR...
Cheers for replies. Probably no more changes for the time being to be honest. I can't be bothered dealing with a very low car. Its never going to be a show/track car or anything and suits me quite well as it is. Don't really want to put too much more money into the car as I've spent a fair...
Some of you may remember the mx5 I had a around a year ago. Unfortunately rust got the the better of it and somebody ended up buying it off me and taking it to France to restore it after it failed its MOT for it
Here are a couple pics of the old one, (sorry theyre huge):
Got the new one...
Its by no means perfect apart from that. Battery doesnt hold its charge and it needs suspension replacing tbh (one spring failed mot but could prob do with a whole new set of suspension). Theres also some rust coming through on the frong driver side wing. Its your call mate.
Id probably want...
So my car failed its MOT today, will be too expensive to sort out so going to be stripping it over the next few weeks. If anyone is interested in anything then drop me a PM (non-standard parts first preferably as I may just sell the standard car to a scrap yard or something)
Cheers for the comments guys! I insured it with elephant in the end, it wasnt too bad in the end, about £1000 for a 21yr old with no NCD in a london postcode. Hardly any more than my brother is paying to insure his 1.2 8v punto haha.
Matt, Ill keep my eyes peeled for pics of yours, would be...
Not much has changed on the car really, but Ive got it MOT'd, taxed and insured and have just been enjoying driving it with the top down!
Next on the list is coilies and wheels, start a new job soon so will have some cash for that soon. Went out for some pics recently anyway, here they are...
Cheers guys, cant wait to start driving it! Been off the road for a few months while ive been at uni
Just found out that the TSI's are original zest TSI's, which are meant to be pretty rare, nice bonus!
Got back from uni yesterday for easter holidays so fitted my garage vary lip. Really like this pic my brother took, shame that the car is still off the road so cant take any proper pics til I get it mot'd and taxed in june. These pics also made me realise how much I need to remove the driver...
Its a 95 car so sixteen years old! Thanks, ill give them a try now.
Not really sure what you mean? Its counter-sunk so flat against the steering wheel. May try drilling it out but Im scared ill f**k something up!
Sorry to hear about your mates dad, really sad :(
I have some small updates for the car, but havent done as much as I would have like which is annoying.
First up I replaced the wing mirrors as one of the ones on it was just glued on and couldnt move and one had some paint drips on it and just...
Looks good now that its nice and low!
Where did you get the metal bar from mate? I need to make up some subframes for my seats and not sure where to start.
Cheers mate, but think the personal one has got a hub that comes with it so will probably just be able to re use that when my wheel arrives. Thanks for the offer though
Had a quick look and cant see any other markings on it, so it could just be a personal horn which would be a shame.
There are some similarities to this wheel though...
Got the "roll bar" sprayed and fitted, though Im pretty sure its just a style bar as it bolts onto the seatbelt towers rather than the actual chassis, but for what I paid for it Im not going to complain. Think it makes the car look a bit more purposeful too which is what I was after.
Here it is...
Cheers guys!
Yeah hopefully should be quite a fun project. Already enjoying it much more than the clio (but also spending much more money than I did on the clio, oops :quiet:)
Going to buy some little spacers tomorrow to bring the TSI's forward a bit as at the moment they look a little bit...
Chris and Luke - Not sure how it would be coming from a 1*2 but from a 1.2 it is in a completely different league of pace and handling, super fun! Cant wait to get it back on the road again
TSI's painted and fitted. Not sure if Im going to leave them as they are or give them a coat of matte...
Not really sure mate, picked them up second hand from a guy on nutz. I really liked the skuzzle ones but apparently he has broke the mould so wont be making any for a while so got these.
There is a member on mx5nutz called jass who makes them. They're pretty cheap and seem to be made quite...
I know there are loads of these popping up on here, but thought I would stick up a project thread for my new mx5. After looking around for ages I managed to find a UK 1.8 with zero rust and 100k on the clock for under a grand. It has had a full respray fairly recently so the paintwork is all...
