Hi I've recently bought a 197 and the exhaust sounds like it's blowing/ raspy. I think it's had the cat removed. I've attached a picture of it. Can anyone confirm if this is the cat and if so is it complete? I feels like it lacks power low down. I've had a few 172's so know they don't feel that...

Mine used to do this when my driveshaft was broken. cost me 170 to have it fixed.

Seen a white clio 200 cup outside wetherspoons in merthyr yesterday.Looked really nice with a private plate beginning with D17(i think) and cliosport stickers on the rear windows

Theres a boy who works in P and R motors who's got a black 172 that's always clean that had a twin exhaust(one either side)..That's an 03 plate though. Never seen your's about though mate

Mine was the tdc sensor.Changed it and it started straight away.cleaned it but it made no difference.hopefully yours will be the same

I had this problem the other day. Didn't come up with any fault codes when on a code reader.Take it you got stung for the fifty odd quid by renault too

I've had 3 172's and i have had a golf turbo that was remapped by R-tech. It was an AGU engine code so prob around 180 - 190bhp. golf gives you the feeling it's quicker, but in reality it's not and the economy is not as good on the golf compared to the clio. i struggled to ever get 30 mpg outta...

My mate has got a trophy. He works in swansea so it may be him.

I find that whenever i run mine on v power i get better mpg than on any other. I usually use either tesco 99 or esso super which both seem ok.

I am on my second 172.my son is now 4 and i bought the other one when he was 2. I had a zetec s when he was first born and i've had plenty of other 3 door cars since he was born. Never found them a problem to be honest. Convince your missus. Definately be worth it
