I had the same problem. Called the AA. Turned out to be resistance in the crank sensor. Or bad wiring to crank sensor. The AA guy just put his hand under the engine put his finger on the sensor and wiggled the wires and said try it now! Started straight away!

cleaned the throttle body but have a problem now...
this light comes on and when i took it for a drive it started flashing and wouldnt pick up any speed! maybe i forgot to put something back
Ok been looking on the forum today, apparently to depressurise the system its not a relay, its a 30 amp fuse in the engine bay which needs to be removed then trying to start the engine for a few seconds. Thats on a 172 but guessing its the same on a 1.2

How do I check the voltage at input & output side of fuse holder? Do I connect the multimeters negative to the negative on the battery? Just want to be sure before I do it!
Quick question, could it be anything to do with the earth on the head unit? I remember having to hook up an 8awg power lead direct to the head unit in order to stop it cutting out. Was thinking maybe it need the same gauge earth lead, as you have quoted "you can't take out what you can't put...

Still cant find the gearbox earth strap. is it the bolt with the yellow arrow, if it is cant see where its connected to the chassis. Think the bolt with red arrow is the battery - to gearbox.
The amplifier earth. i drilled a hole into the chassis under the rear seat and cleaned to bare metal using a drill and wire adaptor. then screwed a bolt into in.
