I park in the most out of the way spaces in car parks and usually on an end space. If I cant find a space that I am happy with, I just dont park in the car park. It drive my wife nuts, specially if we go somewhere and we then leave becuase I wont park the 172.
But after seeing so many people...
LOL, no idea, I have always noticed judder when balancing and engaing on hills since I had it at 4k miles. Every time it had been in I mentioned it and they said it was fine, which in my dealers renault speak meant "our monkey took it out, ragged the nuts off it round the block and it seemed ok...
Lol yea, still should be fit for purpose though, and there is a difference between driving it hard and ragging the clutch. The way it went it could have caused a serious accident if I was at a roundabout etc. Appart from the juddering it hasnt shown any sign of slippage until now.
FFS, clutch has gone now in a blaze of blue smoke, (was in seccond going 15mph up a hill when it started slipping like a mo fo) AA came out and got me home + did a report.
23k miles, will renault cover this one under warranty (AA man reckons they should)??
Last year when they had it in for...
Simon, you my friend are a genius. I managed to open the bonnet and have re greased the release/lock and it seems to be working ok now.
One less thing for renault to arse up.
Argh the bonnet wont release, the cable pulls and hasnt snapped but noting is releasing in the engine bay.
Is there any way to open it without taking it to renault. If I do take it to the dealer how will they manage to open it without destroying bodywork?
Yea I thought they might but for a 2 year old car it seems a bit soon. :( Stll having a crap week (see my exhaust for sale thread) may aswell accept the clio curse
I have noticed the leather is cracking up and blistering the edge piping on the drivers side seat, its also starting to do it a bit on the passenger side.
The car has only done 23k and I was wondering if this is a common problem. I am only an average build so shouldnt put too much stress on...
Hi
I have decided to change my 172 for a Megan 225 cup. I have a coupple of questions.
1) What is the value of my 172?
It is a October (53) 2003 172 in silver with the clio cup alloys on. It has done 23,000 miles and is in very good condition. Full renault servicing UK car 2 owners (me...
Have to say i like the 172 MK1 and 2 and 182 as they are. They look right from the word go.
The only thing the 182 has over the 172 which is really nice is the exhaust pipe showing. As for styling they are good as they are. Maybe a little lower but thats it.
I have seen a few clios with...
Those proton GTIs are pretty slow, I seem to remember trying one before I got my MK4 1.8 Astra SRI (125bhp). The astra was definately quicker and better handling, doesnt say a lot for the proton.
"Does the 306 respond to breathing mods as well as the 106, Ive read that with an exhaust + filter the 106 flies, just wondering if the same applies to the GTI-6??"
LOL I had a saxo vts (same engine) and with a zorst N filter the 106 gti sounds like they fly but they really dont compared...
172s are nice but as with all the renault sports quite a hard ride, I found the leon R better and certainly a nicer driving position for long journeys. Wish Id gone for something a bit smoother than the clio now but mpg is good and I still get the grin on a B road blat.
Welcome. Getting it on 28 is a pretty big effort. The HU amp will be distorting before the speakers.
I get mine up to 22 with +3 trebble and +3 bass. On flat or - bass and trebble I have had 25 but never 28.
Respect
Following KDFs suggestion I am now posting this from my local Police Cell, Cheers M8.
Seriously skint, payday isnt for another 6 weeks (get paid odly) and cant afford to put it on plastic as the reason I am so skint is that I paid off one of my CCs this month.
I wish I lived at the top...
Man, I am so bored today, I want to take the car out for a spin over lunch time but I am well broke atm so I cant even afford the fuel to do that.
Think I may just go and sit in it instead:(
My 53 172 had the following issues (6k on clock when I bought it)
Heavy Steering (fixed under waranty - Just a sensor)
Headlamp washer ball fallen out (Cant be bothered to fix it cause it sprays pedestrians:D)
Interior ambient air conditioning sensor buzzed like mad (fixed warranty)
Oil...
I had exactly the same leak on my 172 when I picked it up. Just a rocker cover gasket. Bout the only thing my local dealer managed to sort out in one go. Appart from the fact it took 3 days to identify the fault and fix it.
