My alternator was playing up last year too - I replaced it and it solved the UCH clicking for over 6 months!!! Or it may have been coincidence... I just tried the spare UCH in mine, and I couldn't get it to do the clicking, so I really do think it is the UCH on mine. Flexing the board...

ETA I've read somewhere that the ECU doesn't need changing as the transponder ring just sends the signal that the key has the right chip, so I hope that's true, would make life easier!

The tight spot is between the inner lip of the alloy rim and the strut - there's not quite enough room for my to slip my (skinnyish!) finger in there. They're all on - I'll take it out for a quick spin to see if it feels ok.
