Its a noise thats present on alot of these gearboxes but it's not just a straight forward case of replacing your gearbox. Yes you feel that's the only solution and that "driving it through the showroom" ?????? will fix everything but it won't. A replacement one will be the same, it's down to...
Sorry to crash in on your thread guys but I'd be interested in finding out how to get the rev counter working??
Currently running a Ph1 172 setup in a Ph1 16v but I like the old style clocks!!
I`ll stick my two pence worth in here after reading all this, personnally i`d go for the F4r conversion. Trying to put overpriced vag, outdated red top`s or pretty much most other engines is for those with deep deep pockets.
They are reliable, those who tell you not never tell you the full...
When it was first built it was blue and they used it as a safety car at Oulton park when it was still Dimma`s demo. They walked into Quicks and Henlys in chester, bought a Cossie and a Clio valve but didnt have them registered and then chopped them to bits. After that i never saw it again.
Its been in the MOT manual for quite a while to be fair but for some reason its been brought to the tester attention a little more recently.
Load of poop in my opinion, i know myself or the other 2 testers i work with have never even considered failing a car for that. If its fitted and...
Read a few posts and seen several cars that have done the widetrack/ williams front suspension onto normal mk1 16v`s.
Just wondering on the advantages of this if your doing a track focused car as surely having the larger negative camber on the standard mk1 is better?
The pin 18 to pin 9 is for the old square diag socket for the F7p/r engine.
PM me your address and ill send you a diag socket with some loom attached and the wiring connections that you`ll need to do.
Stu
Re the obd socket, if you`ve used a Ph1 172 ecu it was a direct line to the injection computer from the obd socket. Get one off any Clio with the later type socket and if my wiring diag is right.............
obd socket pin 15 to inj comp pin 26

Hi, i`m looking for a PH1 172 downpipe/cat/de-cat.
The condition of the cat itself is not important as it will be chopped out, its more for the shape of it than the cat section so de-cat or anything suitable will be considered.
PM me with what you have and how much.
Stu
Oh and happy...
Hi guys, just after some opinions/experiance if anyone can help?
got a mk1 16v that id planned a 172 conversion on and was gathering all my bits together, ive also got a complete williams cylinder head which came from my old engine that threw a rod and piston.

oh Matteh you asked about the ecu numbers, whys that? is there some that cant be uncoded?
mmm i would have liked to keep the pas, that might set me back a little!!! the 172 rack could be a good option if it will fit Matteh.
need to get an adjustable fuel reg too, forgot about that one!!
yeah got rads and fans off both cars, undecided which to use yet and was reading the progress on getting the 172 one to operate.
wanted to keep the pas really if i could, theres a issue with clearance aint there?
no abs, takes the fun out of track driving, got the battery surround.
