How much money do you make from breaking 182?!

So how exactly do you get more off them? I bought the car off auto trader for a start. How do I justify a higher value, when it is based on 'market value', i.e. what it costs to replace the car with one of a similar age and mileage. Modifications will not make any difference. I could take...

How much money do you make from breaking 182?!

Thanks for replys, so chances are it's just about worth it. I was happy with the valuation to be honest, only £300 less than what I paid for it over a year ago. Was also higher than most similar ones on auto trader. Just need to decide if I can be arsed to break it now!

How much money do you make from breaking 182?!

Hi guys, Unfortunately I have written off my 2004 Artic Blue Clio 182 :dapprove: Valued at £3700 by insurers, but repair bill of £8500, Cat C. Done by an independant place, it might just about be repairable, but I'd rather break it now. Lost the back end and hit a fence sideways, so...

Rolling road day @ Rs tuning.

Car is running fine now :D, so I'm in. Only want a power run though, I just don't think remaps are worth the money on normally aspirated cars.

    Is my Dephaser nackered?!

Thanks for that, reassuring. Gonna fire it up today, fingers crossed!

    Is my Dephaser nackered?!

Simple answer is because it costs about £140 for a new one! HAve spent a lot on parts already. Since they don't seem to be critical when they go wrong, it doesn't seem like a big risk. Am getting quite handy at doing both belts now, so not too worried if I have to change it in 6 months / a year.

Rolling road day @ Rs tuning.

I'm definitely interested. Cars been in bits for the last month sorting a cambelt / valve replacement problem but got a few little updates on it and would like to see if it's made any difference. Does depend on whether the car is running properly when I fire it up for the first time tomorrow...

    Is my Dephaser nackered?!

:) Took a while to cut through it on the bandsaw!

    Is my Dephaser nackered?!

Cheers Fred, very useful as ever. I have the renault pulley locking tool (1509 / 1509-01), a Laser TDC pin and I made a camshaft alignment tool in the workshop! Used 5mm ground flat stock steel for the tabs and some flat machined 20mm thick aluminium to align them and keep it stiff. Having...

    Is my Dephaser nackered?!

Just a quick query. I'm putting my engine back together after a cambelt problem and got round to doing the timing now. Having a few issues getting it to line up perfectly. There is a bit of play in the dephaser pulley (182 on about 75k miles), but I'm not sure if it's too much and therefore...

    Timing Belt, oh bugger!

Job is coming along well now. I've finished sorting out the cylinder head, replacing valves etc and it's back on now. Gearbox has been off and put a new clutch in too. Slowly getting everything back together now. Made myself a cam alignment tool (not the prettiest, but it should be...

    Quick question on clutch replacement

I'm replacing the clutch on my 182 as I have it in pieces at the mo after cambelt went. Just spent the day replacing valves! Anyway got the valeo clutch kit, which has the friction plate, spring plate and release bearing. Just wondering if there are any other seals / parts I need to replace...

    Timing Belt, oh bugger!

Yeah I found Trechii on ebay, so that´s who I was planning to use. Think I´d rather put new ones in than 2nd hand, just to be on safe side, but thanks for the offer. Anyone know if this valve spring compressor will do the job? http://www.ccw-tools.com/product.asp?P_ID=3676&af=1792 Or anyone...

    Timing Belt, oh bugger!

Couldn´t really do a vacuum test how I wanted in the end, so just sat the head at the right angle and poured solvent around the head of the valves to see if any leaked past. Surprisingly all the exhaust valves were ok, but two of the inlet ones leaked! So I´ll probably do the full set!

    Timing Belt, oh bugger!

Sorry I was meaning to ask if I´d get away with the pistons like that, was planning to change the exhaust valves, but you´ve basically answered that anyway, cheers! Gonna do a vacuum test on it tomorrow (work in a composites place, so we have vacuum pumps, valves and bagging!) just to see if...
