thanks gents - i disconnected the battery and reconnected to reset, then left the ignition on for 5mins and code worked fine . Problem solved.

Yeah, followed the steps; ill dissconect the battery and try again, will see if that fixes it

Any thoughts as to why this might be the case? does the radio lock itself for some reason? should i disconnect the battery, reconnect and try '1944' again maybe?

@Brigsy interestingly my non-Ecu Ph2 doesn't have the small box located in front of the handbrake, just empty space... perhaps it also has non functioning airbags? ?

ahh yeah UCH - good point, will swap that too, thanks mate. anyone know if the ECU will have issues not recognising ECU functions? i know there's a little unit that sits in the centre of the floor, just in front of the handbrake, but not sure of any other ECU components?
