Ive had a couple of the dialogys discs off ebay and too be honest they are sometimes more hassle than there worth, if you get them to install, (and its a big if) then yes they are really helpful and informative for a lot of things, but installing them seems to be really difficult for some...

You can get a FLI in line audio converter, which allows you to take an audio feed from your rear speakers instead of the head unit, I did this on a ph1 before and it was a pretty neat setup, thus eliminating the need for an rca out feed.
Ive had a 3/4 plate on the front of mine for around a year now, has passed its mot and never gets any bother off the police, spacing and lettering are standard so still looks ok.
If anyone cares to spend 10 minutes going searching for official 2012 VOSA mot manual, look under the lighting section, no where does it say xenon kits are illegal, just that if self levelling/washers are fitted, they must work correctly like any part of the mot test.

Have you read the latest mot manual for 2012? it states that if headlight washers are fitted they must work just like any other device on a car, as the cup doesnt have them, it is no problem for retrofitting a xenon kit as long as it doesnt dazzle other drivers and is aimed correctly etc.

I currently own a 172 cup which is for sale and have had the normal 172 and ph1 as well, all I can say is they are so much better to drive than the normal car, the slight loss of toys is very much worth it, its sharper, more agile and goes a lot better, not to say mine is ragged as some have...
Ive had a retrofit xenon kit fitted to my 172 cup for the past 18 months, never get pulled, passed two mots with them on at different garages, and they never dazzle other drivers as the headlight level is set to 3 so they never really get high enough to be a problem.

Have you tried a code reader yet? that will usually tell you what sensor is at fault, If it is an emissions light I would guess it is the Lambda sensor.
