The New Focus ST

I think there is a thread somewhere but couldn't bloody find it. Anyway I saw one in the flesh for the first time at the weekend. I'll be driving one in the next month or so obviously not to buy.

My opinion on the looks in the flesh? Superb in Blue, really really superb. Very impressed and the 5 door actually works for me.

I see Fords vision of a "one" car for all the global brand and the journos seem to think it worked well, it has to do everything and by the looks of it they achieved that.

Not for me. It lost its appeal now it's a 'world product' for Ford.

That Volvo lump gave the last one real character. Now it's just another hot hatch that not quite as good as the Megane.

With money being tight these days they wanted a car they could sell all over the world. Not everyone wants a Vxr or an R.S. Megane. As Ford have said before the ST brand is below that level and something inside says sales wise this will work out well.

I miss that 5 pot though!

I can see why they've done it and I've no doubt it's a good if not great car. I'm just not a fan of how it looks from the back, in fact the rear is ugly in a bad not 'characterful' way.

Personally, when I look at what's offered from the Megane RS or the Astra VXR, they'd be my choices over the new ST.

Admittedly that interior looks like a nice place to be.

Lol at a lot of money for what it is. It significantly undercuts the Megane and Astra. Don't care to debate which is better, but its basically the cheapest in its segment. People need to wake up and realise that hot hatches are no longer £13k heaps.

On topic, I'm not really a fan. Also those chairs look dreadful.

The RS competes with the Meg and Astra more so than the ST, especially the new one. Again think R.S. Clio Vs Fiesta ST.

That would be to do with "The Sweeney" they used a Titanium X Turbo badged up as an ST for the shooting of it.

Also, im almost certain the handbrake had something to do with the 'sideways' action.
