Matched Inlets Group-Buy 09 (Official Thread)

I will get mine sent out tonight mate, i only got my new inlets fitted the other night and i have had a high idling problem which i had to sort as well, so the inlets should be back to you before the end of the week.

I was going to say, the majority of the problem is with returns either being late (once they fit their new ones they are less bothered about returning theirs promptly) or in such poor condition that they need a good soak and scrub for a few days.

Must say, Jamsport is doing a brilliant job dealing with such numbers an the short lead time.

I feel so much for the poor bugger who's having to do all the work.........

If most of the customers had to do the job themselves, they'd be charging A LOT more and making people wait a lot longer........its horrid work!
i understand what your saying but i phoned the snow week and they said mines was one of the ones sitting waiting to go. paid on the 16/01/09 which i think was prob one of the first to pay. i dont really want to phone again as i know there busy, if someone could maybe give me a pm that would be great

seanaldo - bad times mate!

GazM - if it helps you to spread the cost I can supply you the thermal intake gaskets seperately - drop me a PM if you need them.

Ive had my fitted for a fortnight now, and i cant say i notice any difference with the matched inlets.

bit disappointed, but hell, at least they shiny :)

Anyone had any 182 Inlets yet? Anyone retuned any? 1 month since ordering them and I was told I'd have them in a Week and a Half :(

Not Jamports Fault though if people are choosing to sell there's on in the For Sale Section rather then sending them back :(

nearly 2 month wait for me, any sort of update? broster said he would look into it for me but nothing has happened so far

still no inlets returned.....

i match up exchange units for people if they dont send me inlets to match. its not only frustrating for me but for the people who are waiting it must be painful!

Very..... I'm thinking I may have to Buy some to send to them as no fooker are returning theirs

What Plenhum's/Lower Inlets fit a 182 just 182 one's??

  Iceberge cup,mito tb
im kind of going off the idea as im thinking of getting my bike license anyway so if its ok with jamsport i could maybe let someone else take my spot? and get my cash refunded(if thers any intrest) or if its too much hassle for yous to do the inlets, i would take a refund. if no to any of them ill just wait on my inlets. (this is no way ment to be bitchy towards jamsport as i know its mainly out there hands)

How much to drive in with a 197 & drive out job done?

Will the block be left covered in blue?

Can you pm me what difference i may expect, thanks.

I bought a spare set and sent them to jamsport, fitted the lower half of the inlet today as the top half is being polished.
My RS tuner reckons I have gained about 8bhp and 12Nm of torque at the wheels.

I've just sourced a 182 Plenhum and Lower Inlet so will be sending it off as soon as I receive them :)

^best thing to do I think!
I've found with the PTFE gaskets, I had to file a few mm off of my lower inlet to get it to squeeze in behind the alternator bracket, as the gasket is slightly thicker than the standard one.

Yeah I'll be researching alot before I trty and fit them myself and checking exactly waht i need to get the job done,

Has anyone done a fitting guide as the other one is very vague and pictureless nowadays :(

If someone in the south east region wants help fitting they can come see me, or if you're prepared to travel to the south east I'm also willing to help!
I can do it in about 2 hours. If you're using the ptfe gaskets, there is a lot of trial fitting involved, as you have to file one of the bolt holes down a fair bit.
You will definitely need a socket adapter that allows the ratchet to be at a different angle to the socket, think it's called a universal joint, like this one:
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...group_ID=20323&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog
Some of the bolts that hold the inlet on are just a nightmare to get at, so one of these is essential if you ask me.

You'll also need a decent trolley jack to support the engine while you remove the left hand engine mount.

Heres a comprehensive list:
-13mm socket
-10mm deep socket
-16mm deep socket
-16mm shallow socket
-10mm ring spanner
-3/8 drive universal joint socket
-3/8 drive ratchet
-3/8 drive extension pieces
-Flat blade screwdriver
-Trolley Jack (ideally with rubber plate)
-Axle stands
-Wire brush (not entirely necessary but helps get any loose material off the inlets before fitting to avoid it going in the inlet ports)
-WD40 (always comes in handy anyway)
-Rags (to wipe off the ports after removing the standard inlet)

OK,

Update on this, due to me not having exchange units back im limited on sending things out, this has led to a few people getting frustrated, which is totally understandable and i can see why people waiting would be upset, i would be. however from my point of view i organised a group buy which was set on a set amount of people, i have had 2 people ask for refunds, i can see why but if people pull out then the cost of the group buy goes up....

where do we go from here?

good list of info here!

not sure how this might go down, but would it be possible to post a list of who's got/had what, and where those waiting are in the pecking order?

i've a week off in early April and, if it comes to it, can take my car off the road during it and send mine off, so no great rush for me (and apols for bugging you recently - only as i'd gotten the impression that mine had been sent and, i'd assumed, gone missing)

how would you like to proceed broster? all i know is £200 left my acount 2 months ago and i have nothing to show for it and no sign of that changing in the immidiate future. out of intrest how many actually went ahead with the group buy as the price was set for 20 or more and there seemd to be alot more than 20 going for it
