Is a Throttle Bodied Clio Worth It?

i want opinions and advice from both with the conversion or experienced it and those without.

Friends just sold his version 6 sti but now is wanting another subaru as he cant live without it.

i told him to get a throttle bodied clio but he said itll be slow compared to his sti and all the rest of it.

so basically will a standard sti dust a throttle bodied clio? and which would you buy?

i told him to try something different and save a bit of cash

would this happen with the clio throttle bodied

o btw daily driver

cheers

Scooby everytime, just won't be the same. Bodies are great but it just won't give that turbo shove that he's got used to.

I've driven a TB'd Clio and a Pro-Drive Scoob. 260 bhp I think they are. The Clio def felt quicker and much more exciting.
Mind you, I often see people who have spent thousands on tb conversions selling up soon after. This is probably more down to the expense of running the thing rather than dissatisfaction with its performance.

  e92 + E46 M3 + Cup
400+bhp >> 210/220bhp... think he'll be very unhappy, unless he wants some thing that you can drive rather than be driven by, cant beat 4 wheel drive for control but FWD does keep things fun lol

  AMV8, Mk1 Golf
completely different cars tbh, if hes wanting a scooby he wouldnt be happy with a clio no matter how fast it was imo

2 completely different cars. Ive owned both. Clio is more fun, subaru is quicker. end of

ok fair enough, tell him get a subaru type ra this time lol so those with throttle bodies (question for me now lol).. whats expense like after its done? high maintenance?

  Seat Leon Cupra 290
dont cost anything really, might go through clutches and tyres quicker, mine hasnt cost me anything out of the ordinary

  Clio v6
^^^ lol

No car comes back with such an exact figure. Either it's in the region of or nowhere near. Where is your evidence to show the car was 235 at that brief moment? Your car may be running 245 or even 185 today.

Aren't they very heavy on fuel after TB's? I don't know, just think I read on here.

no, doesn't need to be uneconomical at all when driven normally, only reason they are is people "enjoying" them a bit more often than they would have before

  ITB'd MK1
only when you open it up, you can still get good fuel mileage with normal driving, but yes where you're taking advantage of the extra power it will use more fuel, just like anything modified

  arctic 182 black wheels
well raced a wrx the other day and destroyed it, raced my uncle in his pro-drive sti running 305 bhp beat him off the mark and to about 125mph but thats when his turbo pulled on but still not beat is by a big margin!! if you put a clio against an sti on twisty roads i'd dare say the clio would win

  182 for sale £7000
the printout is 234.4 but this car has had so much work done to it previously it only neeed throttle bods 2finish it off

  Clio 1.2 Billabong
go on pistonheads or something and have a look for tb'd clio, best thing is to get your mate to try it, then let him make his mind up.

Spend what it costs to do a tb conversion on an impreza and you have a winner.

Everyone thinks tb's are a million leagues ahead of a std 172 in regards to power. The type of power that's going to snap your neck back. It's a load of bullshit.

Tb's improve acceleration/power but not massively.

IMO it's a waste of money and I know this because I wasted around £6k doing it to my old 172. If only I knew now!

That is my old car and seriously it's not that quick... 250bhp or whatever it's supposed to be is a pile of b****cks.

I don't f**king care what anyone says but the car is not as quick as you think...

If I had spent £6k on a p1 you would not see a scoob in that video because it would be so far ahead.

A lot of ppl on here will tell you to go for the tb's as they all bum clio's.

  RS RIP
I used to have a 270 Hp Subaru, was good + very fast. But heavy / sluggish around corners. When i got the Cup i never had so much fun, especially when modified a bit (mine has nice cam setup running around a small 200) .. these are easily faster then the Scoob up to 70mph or so.. afterwards the Subaru will keep power coming because of its blower..

I'm ofcourse talking about the everyday situations and not on a easy as f**k straight race

it goes wel and my printout says 234.4 so good enough for me
