desperate for insurance

  182
Have you tried getting quotes with and without the mods to find out the difference? Could always pay to have it put back to standard and sell the bits to help pay the cost. Possibly try a local broker in town or something too. They always come back with companys you would never think to of called. Best bet is to try everyone you can really. Good luck with it :)

try elephant, they were good for me

Im sure they have quoted me when i was 19 and they weren't over £4k.

Dont forget to put in the correct mileage u will cover, a lot of difference between 3k and5k miles for instance.

And add your mum and dad onto the policy and see how much they help. Having my mum and dad on mine save me £150 last yr on a £700 premium. Its a big saving.

I think Swift are ment to be good too.

think the things to seriously consider dave: (or just pretend you have made these changes now for a price comparison)

*remove ALL the mods (even lowering springs can put it up a lot!)

*add your dad, grandad, uncle etc (i found adding my mum along with my dad made it go up, whereas my boyfriends dad instead of my mum made it cheaper!

*take a 10 month bonus accelerator policy out

*pay in 1 lump sum (borrow if u havent got it!) or else you will end up paying hundreds and hundreds more, my quote was £1370 or if i paid monthly it was way over £2000

*don't set your mileage to over 5,000 if you don't use it much

*consider insuring it under a relatives postcode if it saves money, you could say you were living there at the moment

good luck and let us know!

it's stupid how adding parents reduces it SO much, you'd think the insurance companies would have cottoned on to this with young drivers!

i think i got mine a bit cheaper too as i drive another car being on my boyfriends company car insurance - not that i want to drive a merc SLK when i have a 182, i mean....come on!!!

Adding a parent generally makes it more expensive with the company I work for. Worth trying each way to find out tho.

It's because they presume that you (when you are young and liable to crash) will only be driving the car part of the time and so apparently there is a lower overall risk.

Same with mine though, I have the option to drive 2 other cars and so my insurance is the square route of FA :)

^^ That saved me loads when I first started driving!

Only realised that last year cos I read it on here. Wish I had know that from when I started driving, I paid £2k for a 1.4 clio worth £2k when I was 18!

I dont recommend that tbh. I did that when I was 17, had an accident and after the policy expired, I was left with technically 0yrs experience, 0 NCB and 1 accident at my fault. If you have a fault accident, you're bugger, only if you dont it will work for you.

Risky? Esp if its stolen from your own drive, cos they will try and fnd out where it actually is every night, I heard some of them have spied on ppl in the past! Cheaper than them paying out.

Maybe just try 3rd party, fire and theft for now or save like mad!

Doesnt really matter if its an 10 month or 12 month policy in that respect tho..

when i was getting quotes for my 182 in july, most wouldnt insure a car over 5 or 8k (i cant remember which) unless it was fully comp!

But on a 12month policy, he at least finish with a years experience. When my 10mont policy (poss 9months thinking about it now) I waited till I had 1 full year of experience as there was a big price difference.

Fair point onevish. He didn't say how long he has had his licence either. If it's not long, doing the Pass Plus can knock off a big % too..

  200sx s14a
amazed how much difference post code makes my isurance is £490 fully comp with 5 years ncb and 22 years old. my mate who lives 20 miles away pays 1150 for nearly same car and he aint declared cup packs with privalage by the way

  57 Ibiza Formula Sport
yep its ridiculous bainsey! same person, same car.. just diff postcode! i couldnt believe it when my insurance doubled by choosing not to move away! i decided to keep the 182 though because i'm saving on living costs that i would have incurred if id have moved away, so it kinda balances out!

she asked me to add her on msn a while ago, then for my number, and ever since she texts me at exactly 9am everyday asking me to meet her wearing nothing but a bow tie.

LMAO how cheeky are you steven?!!!

dave88, he asked for my number "incase we are at the same meet" and to let me know about gym memberships at his gym actually!

9am text? i havent been up at 9am most days the past week cos ive been off sick at work! haha.

lastly, we are both in long term relationships, so there's no "getting in there" required! we just have "friendly banter" :) if not, im sure we would be married by now though!

....altho he does txt me obsessively ;)
