Wanting to Buy a 1.8 16V

  Clio 182 w/ cup packs

Should get a pretty decent one for that much! Get it HPI checked and make sure it has full service history. With 3k you should be able to get a low mileage one no problems

My Dad had a HPi check done for around £15 I believe, dont quote me though.

Id say 50K-60K on the clock would be good for an N reg Maybe less if you look around!

I have seen one for £2500 with 67K on the clock but it doesnt say about having the Cambelt changed on it so i will have to look in to it as my mate said they really need changing around 70K

It isnt always best to go for a low mileage one as you may have to do alot of repairs around 60k-70k if you get one one 80kish then the majors jobs should have been done. But whatever mileage make sure you have a folder of history.

Its funny how people say that all the expensive jobs are between 60-70k cuz mine is on 117k and not had anything major done ie. Clutch, gearbox, waterpump.

Now Ive said that though, ill probably need all those bits doing by the end of next week!lol

Well i have just been comfirmed my car is Sold by the end of the Week or by next weekend oh thats a VTR i have or should i say had gone for £3300.

Going to be looking all week finding a car now.

Thanks for all your Info

The Clio will feel like a tank compared to summet newer like a VTR.

When I got mine I was like "what the hell?! My 8 tonne Escort was easier to drive than this!"

iv got a vtr and a valver

love the clio

but tbh mate get a loan and get something else there a f**king hastle and waste of time

unless you can find a real minter, but i doubt it, the have lots of comon problems and before you know it you will be shelling out a fortune on mechanical parts

they are no worse than any other car. if you drive like a loony all the time they will break down but its no different to any other car if you drive em hard.

mines been fine. clutch, gbox, engine all fine at 94k miles. main thing to look for apart from obvios condition of the car is to make sure the seller dont look like a gypsy or pikey type. ie get a feel for the seller.

Got to agree with finkimic. The only thing is though, when they do breakdown they cost alot to fix because of access problems in the engine bay.

I bought mine off a copper so that was pretty cool!

Dom, Im not saying its a bad thing how much of a tank they are, just took me by surprise. I didnt really buy the car for luxury.

There are very good cars, they have great looks and sound meaty, and the drive is just as good. I love having to rev it hard. They just require a bit of tlc thats all.

Best Hot Hatch Ever

(...apart from the Williams)

Used to have one and they are amazing hot hatches. Cant be bothered to reproduce the history in full, but the 16V was basically the first to move the game on from the 205 GTi and fathered the Willy. It has proper Group A rally pedigree and a rally-evolved form of the car is still the fastest FWD rally car of all time. Expensive to run, but ageing very well and look really meaty out of the box. Dont believe the bolrox about 0-60 in 8.6 secs.

get a GOOD un and your hitting 60 before you know it

iv got a mate, whose is really poor takes for ever, mine seems to fly there

  190 BHP Willy 2

So youve decided to get a proper car now then. Better than that old Saxo but dont tell Becky I said that. LOL

Oh..... and the next time you come round and drink my vodka, can you put your glass in the dishwasher.

Actually..... what were you doing round here with my g/f whilst im on the p1ss up town anyway? ;)

love my Valver I do.

Not had a thing go worng with it and ive just hit 80k - I got the timing belt done myself so I know its defo been done.

Only slight annoyance is what sounds like a fan belt slipping at the moment - I though valvers didnt have fan belts?!

Itll be the auxillary drive belt that drives the alternator and so on. Its pretty well hidden on the cambelt side of the engine and can be adjusted on an adjuster pulley. TAKE NOTE!: the adjuster pulley must be untightened with a spanner before using a large hex key to adjust the tension - many garages/people dont notice this and end up rounding the hex hole. This procedure normally requires the removal of the headlight.

Yup what I got told this morning from Hendersons - its booked in - in the morning - he told me when I had my timing belt done that whoever had - had the previous work done on the car (the timing belt before but Im not very trustworthly so I got it done again as I had no Printed proof!) had done this and that my tensioner pulley (?) might be damaged - hes gonna charge me £12 all in! who said valvers were expensive?! ;)

Ben Invaluabe as ever! cheers matey!

Buy cheap, buy twice as they say. Did the £1200 price tag not make you think?

Depends on who had it before you like anything else. Sold mine with 127k on the clock and no major bills. Perhaps you ended up with my old one.

I bought mine a K reg on 89k 6 months ago totally standard for £2600 with only some history, I even knocked him down £300!! My mates said id been had but bloody hell what a car!!! Its totally mint!! Shouldnt have any probs selling it on with partial history.

Not that i wanna sell. no chance!
