Well as much as I'm gutted my car didn't make it to FCS I spoke to Davy Lewis of Performance French Cars while I was there & soon as I get a new charger sorted he's going to do a mag feature on it so I'm over the moon with that as that was my aim.

good to hear that, i had mentioned the sunflower to dav in passing a little while ago,
good to hear your gonna keep plugging too....

how you getting on with the charger mate?

is this just really bad luck or are the seals a weak spot if yours is the 3rd to go (as reading above) im still very much between a charger or a MWM / Chip style turbo. either way just wish list at the moment

I still get inspired by reading this from the start again and again. Just wish I could start my project off but don't see it anytime soon unfortunately. Just doing few little bits here and there at moment

Looks like rotrex will be changing the seals on new production chargers at some point
http://www.rotrex.com/Home/Technology/Important_Update.aspx no effecting the c30 atm but maybe soon

the main part being

'Nevertheless it is always best to position the supercharger above the canister and oil cooler to avoid any risk of leakage in case of wear or damage to the high speed spindle seal.'

so is the canister above the charger on these installs?

Although it does state in the install guide 'Place the oil canister with the cap below or level with the supercharger’s shaft. Use the bracket supplied in the oil set. Make sure the canister is placed upright. Leave the plastic plugs in place to prevent debris from entering the system'

  SQ5
FFS, it sits right at the bottom on the Clio.

Looks like that's not for the new seals and recommended on old ones. Going to have to rejig all mine by looks of things :(

So how low does the charger sit? From the pics ive seen it seems low. Is it possiblee to get both the cooler and canister actually lower? Surely the coolers are already low as reasonabley possible

  SQ5
I could get my cooler inline, I need to rearrange a few bits anyway

You can see where the first blue hose goes to the cooler on my old one, it's basically same place now.

It would be impossible to move the canister anywhere though?!

By luck, I had the cooler below the charger but god knows where you'd put the canister low enough :/

so could be a cause of the premature failure on the seals, maybe with the canister above the SC you are causing some additonal presure and causing the blow.
From reading stuff on hondas and beemers, they are running these c30 chargers for 50 to 70k miles with no issue...
so does seam strange that on the clios they are failing....

Although also if they are failing on the rollers maybe they are not getting good enough air flow to keep them cool....
Whats the operational temp on the oil and is anyone monitoring this to make sure the cooling is sufficiant ?

  LY Megane R26 230
Strange to see the failures as the 306 boys have been running them fine for 4+ years and the only failure so far was due to a pinched oil feed pipe.my install is still going strong after 25k and 3 years

Anyone have a temp sensor running in the SC oil ?
Just wondering, since they are passive cooled how do they hold up when sat idling ?? Or for example you get stuck in a jam on the m25 for a few hours..

Would it not be possible to fit the oil cooler where Bomber has put his, then mount the oil tank in the wheel arch where the original carbon canister was.
By mounting it low with a hole cut so the fill was sticking into the engine bay it would keep the tank level with the charger, give air flow to cool the oil.

  Qashcow
dont think many/any used oil temp sensor in the SC fluid.

Neil, thats actually a pretty good idea, so long as it was still being run with arch liners as they are quite delicate as a whole. Although it would still need easy access as they need checking regularly

apparently its just being ran in as we speak, just needs a few more miles on it then it can go for its propper map ;) its got a base map on atm according to one of craigs mates, which will be 200+

Not checked in on this in a while, sorry to hear about the charger. Sure it won't be long until it's in full swing again.

Hello

Sorry for my absence & lack of replies, I've been on holiday & working away so havnt had chance to get on here.

I have though sorted a brand new supercharger so hopefully that will be here soon enough & ill have it back on the road :D I havnt got a clue who's said its back on the road already running another ecu on low boost however, that's news to me :S

Ive also bought a RB 197 FF as a daily, the plan with that was to keep it as a standard daily but it hasn't lasted long  Bought all this lot & just got it all fitted the last couple of days I've had free.

K&N panel filter
FK 25mm hubcentric spacers all round
KW V1 coilovers
RS steering wheel insert
TypeR aerial
CLIO badge removed
New style RS rear badge
6k HIDs
White side lights
White number plate lights
Silvervisons
Plain number plates
RS200 rear diffuser
Custom outward exhaust tips
Painted the calipers bright red with black brembo stickers
Wheels painted gloss black.

Couple of pictures of the new addition anyway.

When I got it totally standard :)

Only other thing I would like to do is fit a Cup marmite spoiler. I just can't wait to get the sunflower back on the road.

Quick snap of my girlfriends renault too.

Awesome craig, hopefully you'll bring this to the meet on wednesday, might nab a go of it too as I fancy a new car soon

Also the low boost thing was said by pete, got me excited but now I'm on a come down lol. Still, a 225 engined 197 will look good in your fleet, especially in RB

Cheers paul hopefully it wont be much longer.

Regarding the diffuser i didnt line it up this time however i have tried it & cut a bumper to suit. A good few months back kris had to take his 197 diffuser off so we decided to put it up against the sunflower & see what it looked like, Ive got a tatty ph1 sunflower rear bumper so i cut it out to get the full effect but you would have to fit the 182 boot floor for it to fit properly. Ive got a picture ill post it to give you an idea.
