RS Clio 172 Storm Grey Track toy

Well...
After selling my Megane R26 I started to miss the power and some track days and fun.
Driving around in a 1.5 Qashqai wasn't working for me ( although the kids love the glass roof)

I wanted to get myself a Clio 172/182 for track days but the few I had seen where a mess tbh.

I needed to get into my head it's just a track toy and shouldn't worry about the condition of it. But my OCD won't allow me to do so lol

My megane was one of the best around and was quite well known.

I shouldn't have sold it and bought a banger of a family car but it's done now.

So I see the storm grey 172 up for sale and always liked the colour so after a few messages I decided to buy it knowing it needed some work and some of its previous damage.

It's getting bumpers, wings, bonnet and mirror covers resprayed Tuesday.

I've also ordered...
•Powerflex dog bone mount
•Poweflex top engine mount
•Rear cup shocks as there leaking again
•Front & rear discs and pads
•Carbon washer blanks as I fitted a better condition bumper that was in storm grey hoping it would match but It didn't lol
•Swapped all bulbs to LEDS
•stripped the rear out and put a boot mat in it
•cleaned all the inside out as it was minging and
•polished the lights
•Mk3 megane badge sprayed
•fit new injectors

Future plans...
•red cage
•track steering wheel
•bucket seats & harness
•new pedals
•have some fun
•fit inlet and injector cover
•clean engine bay up

Yup, OCD won't let me forget about the damage. Pics... £650 it's costing me

Better bumper is on without crack but needs colour matching

Bumper and bonnet is in a bad way with chips

I'd be careful with that powder coated inlet manifold unless the holes where blocked up when it was shot blasted or it's been thoroughly cleaned out. I know a few who have scrapped engines through doing that

I love how it's a cheap track toy then you have that shopping list and paintwork to do lol

The only thing I'm not a fan of is the 'rs 172' stickers. But that's because I'm not a fan of them being called 'rs'

Got some bits done today as had a fee day and well chuffed what I got done

Rear dampeners next and cage Powdercoating and fitting

So done the rear dampners today (really easy job) no more leaky fluid in my garage. Cage arrived, just need to get it over to be shot blasted and powder coated.

New HC front discs and DS 1.11 arrived today too

window switch, mirror switch trim, did you just wrap/stick material on that..? looks great and woudl solve my sticky worn dirty plastic look i have on mine

You have done a brilliant job already on this Andy. This colour really is my favourite colour for a 182. Nice to see you are goong to have enjoyment on the track but also take good care of it at the same time.

Okay... Another job done is wrapped roof Gloss black and Matte black sun strip and horn fitted.

Next jobs are...
Fit cage as its at the powdercoaters
Fit front and rear discs, DS 1.11 up front and rear OE pads
Brake fluid change
Coolant change with new bottle
Fit new inlet and injector cover
Find out what this lumpy idle is

Hacksaw it off and boiling water for ten minutes and slide new one on.
