Quaife diff, fitting suggestions

  Clio R27
Hi guys,

I've got a second hand (slightly used) quaife for my 197 and I'm looking for a garage to have it fitted. I'm sure a few people in here are running lsd diffs so any recommendations?

How much am I looking at and how long does it usually take? I know it's a couple of hours for someone in the know to drop the subframe and box but I haven't got a clue in terms of opening the box and swapping the diffs (timewise). Also, my car is on 60k miles so do you reckon it'd be a good chance to change the clutch as well?

Thanks in advance.

Jack, I was thinking to have the money on the side, investigate when everything is in bits and take a decision from there.

Anyone to recommend any garages to swap the diff then? Any traders in here possibly?

Hi chap, I'm currently doing my 182 box with a quaife diff.
The easiest route I've taken is getting a replacement box and fitting the diff to that then going for the box swap thus saving ramp time.
The box refurb and fitting is costing me approx. £200 in labour and few pennies in replacing worn parts.
The next issue is the diff only sits in the crown wheel with two balls and there's a bit of machining to be done... So im expecting an additional cost there but yours is second hand you shouldn't have that issue at all.
It really relies on the garage I'd say, if they don't mind the car on the ramp while the box gets the diff fitted then go that route ...

Hi Steven and thanks for your input.
To be honest I was under the impression that the quaife diff is plug and play and no fiddling around was required, is what you mentioned the case with the 197 box as well? The guy who sold it to me has left it at Jade Developments for me to pick up as he works abroad at the moment, Sean from JD quoted me £250 all in plus replacement of any worn parts. Pretty good quote I have to say.
