My Edition 30

Very nice indeed, looks just like my previous car (I wasn't keen on the black for showing EVERY mark).

Yeah I've got an R,
It is great but I'm just paying to much each month for it and any justify it anymore!

Quattro is the most terrific invention ever!!
Again be prepared to spend a lot on petrol!
I'm sorta hanging about 23-26 to the gallon. Best I've seen is 29 LOL

The only thing my car is missing is AWD and both the R and S3 cover that.

Is it really that bad on fuel ? I thought they were good, if not better than the ED30. I assume your doing short runs?

Saw it on rforum, looks great especially the rear camera.

Yeah the suck quite a bit. I mostly do short journeys but even on a 100 mile run it's not great. I depends how you drive them I suppose.
If you drive like an absolute granny you should see over 30

I don't see the point in owning this to drive like a granny lol

The 4wd drag doesn't help.

Aye cheers the reverse camera is the dogs danglies!!

It's been a while since I've said anything about the car. But there isn't a lot to say, it's a Golf and it's reliable as anything. Not a beat missed, although it goes through oil like my old Civic did.

Some stats for you:

Driven exactly 6k in it today.
Average 29.97 MPG
Best is 34 MPG
Worst 27.9 MPG

All the above are full tank to full tank.

It definitely needs a remap, but don't have a spare £500 to throw at an already working car when trying to buy a house.

I don't think i've ever taken pictures of it when it's clean, so went a bit mad today in-between working.

  MK5 R32
Looks great the ED30, I had one before my current 182, now I'm back on the lookout for one, since the prices of them have dropped abit. Cracking cars especially with a remap ;)

I must be in a minority as the v6 sound doesn't interest me much.

I looked at the R32 and the Edition and ended up with the Edition, the only think missing was 4wd. That said...I've got a MK7 R on order. Best of both worlds lol.

Ah yeah forgot about that.

Would love a 7R but house purchase and all that jazz. Maybe next year.

I know @Sir_Dave thinks the opposite ;)

TBH, I absolutely love this car. Literally nothing wrong with it and sounds great with the Miltek. I just can't see how the R32 can be worse as long as it has all the added extras my ED30 has got, then the NOISE can only be a bonus.

You'll love the R32 even more then!

Standard for standard - Better brakes, better noise, better handling & more toys as standard.

Mine was ace, stupid decision selling it, but needed the cash at the time.

Had next to no interest which is a shame, a part from a 6.5k offer and a 7.6k PX for an R32. Which is not quite close enough. Toying with a 300BHP Revo Stage 1 and keeping it.. Noise or speed ? Essentially.

Noise imo. Speed is becoming more and more pointless with the amount of speed cameras/speed bumps/ and tbe general state of our roads. Noise can be enjoyes much more than speed can.

No longer for sale.

I said that if I got an R32 I would go back to an ED30 and map it. Seems a shame to get rid of a perfectly specced and great SH one now.

So yeah.. Tinkering to come.

Ok no problem I probably won't be buying one for another 6 weeks.

If you do decide your wanting to part with it early feel free to drop me a PM.

  TTRS & V50
Well, went to Northampton Motorsport today and got a Revo Stage 1. Great service and would definitely recommend them to anyone in and around Northampton.

They say it would be around 300bhp and 300 ft/lb - it certainly has picked up it's pace. Very happy with it. It could probably do with being AWD as you can feel it trying to spin up even in dry conditions. I need to stop using pauper fuel now and crack out the VPower as that's what it is mapped for.

Will see how the MPG side of things increases/decreases after a few weeks and using proper fuel.

Awesome car, top blokes at Northampton motorsport. Need to pop up soon for an alignment. They are the only place I trust to do it properly without rushing.

Well it's been a while since I've updated this thread and it's also probably been that long since I washed it.

Nothing has happened since last update apart from enjoying the car and I had a clutch fitted as the old one was on it's way out especially with over 300 torques shouting at it. Was changed by Midland VW. Great set of lads, would certainly recommend for any VW needs or even VAG.

So, this weekend I washed it.

The dirty bits:

Now for sale.

  TTRS & V50
Well I accepted a deposit last night, so all sold up pending collection this weekend.

Will be sad to see it go, really are brilliant cars.

I had an offer accepted on an 8P S3 last week but had to let it go as he had another buyer and I had to sell my car first, typically I sold mine a week later but oh well.

Probably going to buy a stop gap car this weekend as I need a car but will keep my search for an R32 or S3. It's a shame the S3 has such a premium, I really don't understand why, it's exactly the same as an ED30 bar the AWD yet commands a 5k premium, but hey.

Here's some final picture from Gti Spring Festival at Santa Pod the other week.

Looks great. Shame it's going. Why do you want a S3 over that?

Don't really know.

Edition30 is essentially the best car for what I want, however I'm not the kind of guy that keeps the same car for years. No matter how good it is I like to change 12-18 months.

I've driven an R32 and tbf, they aren't that great, pretty under-powered and the noise is the only thing that's ok. So finding one with the same spec and condition as mine is going to be hard so I thought I'd just look at another car.

Couple of my mates have got 8P S3's and they really are great, I think I want an AWD car essentially. The mapped Edition30 does struggle a little, quick, but putting that power through the front wheels isn't great. My thinking is that if I got a S3 I could map it and it will cope with the power easily and be a nice place to be like the ED30 and a bonus of marginally quicker too.

What else is there ? Don't really want RWD so that's BMW at the window, although I was looking at a 135i coupe earlier, but I know if I got one I would always have the feeling of, it's not a M135.

I'm one that likes to change my cars so know all too well. I'm not as bad as I used to be.
I guess with the past two car's I've owned being faux wheel drive I've got used to it and spoilt. I cant remember what spinning the wheels feels like.
S3's are lovely. I just don't get how a K04 turbo makes them worth 3k more than mine.
