Haha had to destruction test the engine I built out somehow, only joking he took it easy on the car.

Yesterday showed up how much the car now really needs a diff , as it was pointless in the wet.
Totally for got to take the front plate off as well to aid cooling but the temps were fine all day, was worried with it being high comp now it would run hot.

Re: Road/Track 172

Hard to say as I've change a lot on the car over the winter and been about 6 months since I've drove it on track, but it did feel very planted through the corners once the track dried up.

I was fair with it, not my toys so I won't break them.

Thanks again for the shot, its a different beast all together from my last two. I can't comment on the RC kit as it was such a difference with less weight, different suspension etc.

I'll get some videos up when I get a chance from that Clio cup train :)

No problem Morgan will hopefully give you a push to get your own track/race car finished. I was just glad it was faultless all day after all the changes and engine build over winter.

Re: Road/Track 172

Yip will be giving them a try on the road and if they don't break in i will take them off and fit another set of A048's to the speed lines. Locking up at 110 heading into the hair pin wasn't fun.

Re: Road/Track 172

I'm getting just over 110 now in this new one John when I'm solo on both straights. Mental when you think 300bhp cars are getting similar.

Re: Road/Track 172

You'll not be doing 110. Fastest I ever got was 103 and we've all got the same car essentially.

Check with gps or a vbox and you'll see how far off 110 you really are.

Re: Road/Track 172

Ok 100+ I was just going off a glance at the speedo before getting on the brakes, and seen 110 a couple of times.

Re: Road/Track 172

You need to put your foot down Stevie boy ;)

One of the first laps I looked at. Granted not 110 but easily achievable.

Or grow a pair! Either way, fair play!

Also, if I'm reading that correctly, you were mowing the lawn at 78mph. :rasp:

Around about. I'm usually 5-10mph quicker through the bottom of Duffus than at the apex. I was doing 80 at the apex when I spun at the days end :headno:

Re: Road/Track 172

Over the weekend i did two track days at knockhil, a 4 hour open pit on Sat and a 2 hour open pit on Monday . The car was faultless both days bar the oil temp getting a little hight but Ive just bought an oil cooler to sort that .
Here is a video from the Monday night. I backed off near the middle of the vid for a lap to let temps drop.

Re: Road/Track 172

Was seeing just over 130 but not sure how accurate the gauge is. Im not 100% sure on the oil as it was changed when the car was in for mapping.

Re: Road/Track 172

Not done any more mods to the car as I've been busy ,sorting out a storage space for the car and trailer. So this week was spent fencing off a section of my garden and fitting a roller door to the back of my garage to allow access to get the car and trailer out of the way.

Re: Road/Track 172

That really confused me looking at the pics there Neil and not reading the text.

So you have a through garage with doors at either end. Nice idea.

Re: Road/Track 172

Yes I did have my hot tub behind the garage but never used it, so sold that last month and made a parking space for the track car. Now just trying to get the floor cleaned up as 4 years of abuse has made a mess of the tiles. Hopefully by next week it will be looking lot more like it did in the second pic :p

Re: Road/Track 172

Did another track night at Knockhill on Tuesday with a bunch of guys from the Focus owners club, so was 100 bhp down on most of them but the little clio still held its own .
Really need to do a brake fluid change and could ideally do with harder springs of my konigsports , until i get a better set of coil overs.

Also ended up with another set of wheels with 2 new RSR's fitted , but need another pair to replace the Toyo's.
