Fletch's 150k 172 Project..

I took the 172 out a run the other week and on returning I noticed some water on the drive. Under closer inspection she was leaking coolant from a split hose. The coolant hoses are all original so a good excuse to change to some silicone hoses. I also plan on changing the manky expansion tank too.

Cleaned the itg air filter too, that was in a right mess so overdue a good wash.

List of jobs..

Buy new silicone coolant hoses and clips probably Samco.
New coolant Expansion bottle.
7 litres of type D coolant.
Oil/ filter change.
Fit new offside driveshaft
Fit new brakes/ discs.

So an expensive month :(

I just need to sort out the new coolant hoses now.

I also noticed this morning that I seemed to have broken one of the fuel rail guard bolts :(

My eBay one has been good as gold, I guess its luck of the draw. At least with gen ren ones you'll have price of mind.

Arent forge and SFS hoses cheaper than Samco?

  Megane 175 & BG182
They do coolant tanks at the dreaded Euro for £15, I have on on mine, used the standard top and it looks identical, fits really well and hasn't leaked as of yet :)

The car itself looks quite tired now she's on 144,700 now and never had any paint or dents removed, so overdue some TLC.

I just wish I had done this before the ring trip. I can actually charge devices again with ease and the cup holders are handy for my phone wallet. All the sound deading has been removed so the weight pentally is minimal.

I also cleaned the sabelt wheel it's come up really well condsidering it's age mileage it's done ( forgot to take a pic)

And a photo from yesterday's New Forest run..

I think you've done the right thing tbh. I have the entire lower dash, cup holders, lever surround and handbrake surround still in mine. Had everything flocked when I got the dash done.

I quite fancy getting it flocked eventaully also :)

Will be back to standard before too long.

Good idea though mate. Especially if more long distance track days are in the pipeline.

Yes Chris. I need a bit more comfort now, as I am getting on a bit ;)

Brakes need changing now :( I am currently running Compbrake 4 pots these use separate bells rotors, to dissipate heat better .good apart from the disc cost ( you can't run standard discs with them) and they have now gone up to £115 each  last time I needed discs they were £100 each.

So I have decided to go back to the standard calipers keeping my goodridge braided hoses and run some Carbon Lorraine's RC6/ Brembo HC's.

And also today I tried to remove the 4 pots but failed :(

I successfully removed the bell which was also nightmare, and then the top bolt holding the caliper would not budge, so I have given it a good spraying with GT85- WD40. Hopefully I'll get it off after a good 24hrs of it soaking in. If not I will have to drill it out.
