@Rob menzerna compounds and something like Hexlogic pads are a good stable place to start. Other option is 3m pads and compounds, minimal options but all bases covered. Elitecarcare also sell a sampler kit of the polishes to reduce initial outlay. Another option is the meguiars microfibre pads and compounds, works well on a DA.

Scholl concepts work very well but takes a bit to adjust your technique to really get the best out of them

The megs MF range is really good and MF pads can be used with all manner of products it's keeping them piled I find a problem.

No!!!! You need 2 essentially! I would just go white and Black.

Infact tell me more. Is it for more than 1 car? I reckon white hex and a decent polish followed by a good glaze or something. Bare in mind I've corrected stuff with lime prime on a white hex!

Going to order some bits this week. Finally run out of wheel cleaner and I've had it that long I can't even remember what it is. Sure it's Autobrite Very Cherry or something, it's definitely non acidic though.

Bought this years back so is there any decent wheel cleaners out there that I could try?

Listen, Scotland, just give me some links and tell me to buy it.

Ideally I want that menz sampler polish pack, suitable pads to apply, those two you're talking about sound find and dandy.. and then a nice wax to top it off (I was going to go old school and go autoglym HD?) Or no wax and zaino z8 instead? Was really impressed with that before.

Oh and a nice hand applicator for said wax?

This will be for my car and my friends blue golf GTI. I actually cracked out the DA yesterday, went over my friends Leon Cupra R with tripple. Only shame was that the wheels REALLY need a refurb, so no matter what I did it wasn't going to make it look great.

This little lot plus some AG HD Wax?

Rob have you considered some Vic's wax instead? AG HD wax is ok but it's bloody hard work and not very nice to use.
I haven't considered any wax tbh mate, I've used AG HD before and it seemed nice enough. Researching about these things bores me to death, genuinely, so I'm happy to take peoples experience in here and just buy something.

The pics of yours this weekend after the vics looks great, applied by hand or machine? How much is a tub chap?

A 3oz tub is £23.95 on CYC http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/victoria-wax/victoria-wax-3oz-concours-wax/prod_312.html

I literally applied by hand. The tub says apply using fingers and palms. The natural heat from you hand melts it so it spreads soooo easily. It also comes off incredibly easily.

I would imagine that 3oz tub will last for ages.

What's the deal with waxing ceramic coatings (namely glasscoat gen3)?

Is it just a case of applying the wax on top of the coating or would I need to apply a pre-wax cleaner?

Waste of time?

Wax would be AF Desire or Illusion.

I'd normally apply AF Rejuvenate first but this might remove the ceramic???

If you have autoglym HD wax the. Use that as it's pretty durable and resistant. If not then britemax blackmax if you can find it under £40. Or one of the bilt hamber waxes.

If you're wanting to keep things easy, a spray on wipe off sealant like gtechniq C2 or carpro reload give decent performance and very easy application

http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/carpro-reload-spray-sealant-protection-sample-100ml.php
Maintain every few months or top up with spray on pressure rinse off carpro hydr02 or hydr02 lite

http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/carpro-hydr02-lite-ready-to-use-silica-spray-sealant-1-litre.php

Applicators I'd suggest a pack of the tri foam or German coloured aplicators. The soft black side is perfect for waxing whereas the yellow or white sides are nice and firm for polishes, cleaners and all in ones like tripple or the menz polishes by hand

I used Dodo Light Fantastic on mine, easy application and not too difficult to remove. Top it off every weekend with GEYEON Q2M wet coat and Megs Spray & Wax.

Sorry Dave your quote didn't notify me for some reason!

I'm quite a fan of AG HD wax, it's a lot cheaper on eBay than anywhere else so I'll order that separate. Only like £32 delivered!

Thanks for the link to the hand applicator, I'll change mine. As for the spray sealant, I've used zaino z8 iirc a number of times and was really impressed. Any reason you'd recommend what you've put there over it?

I'll order this little lot tomorrow, and a spray sealant, which one depending upon what you say.

Z8 isn't a spray sealant as such, it just has some properties, pick up some C2V3, seems easier for new users to use than reload on some colours. Don't buy a carnauba spray unless you're confident, some can be a pain due to the wax in them.

Oh and the C2 will last... a lot!

Guys, need a suggestion for a long lasting/durable wax/sealant that is easy to apply/remove (if that exists).

This will be going on my other halfs Mini which has only had about 4 washes since she bought it brand new just over a year ago, so it'll be durability>looks for this.

Looking at the Collinite waxes and came across this on the website which has info on each one.

1. No.476s – most durable protection/weather defense. Most elbow grease required during application.
2. No. 915- 2nd most durable and slightly easier than the 476s to apply/remove. No. 915 lends our warmest shine to dark tones like navy and black due to its highest concentration of rare carnauba.
3. No. 845- easiest of the 3 to apply/remove with slightly less durability than the No. 915

Anybody had any experience with these?

  Not a 320d
Zymol Carbon is King but it is double the price of AGHD.
inb4 Glasur, it doesnt warrant the extra price tag.
And 476s is great for durability but I used to find it muted the flake (noticeably), can also be a b**ch to work with.
Still using Sonax (now using Turbo Detailer over BSD) as my LSP after nearly 3 years, not waxed a car in that long.

Cleaned and re-sealed wheels with C5. I was going to follow with a couple of costs of C3V3 should I allow any cure time after C5 and between coats of C2V3?
