Some fancy independent rear setup from memory. For circuit work there's no real gain other than easier adjustment, but on the loose there's obviously a few.

I suspect not a million miles away from some of the stuff that was homologated for my Escort. As you say though, probably not worth it for the majority as I guess you'd need to move the tank too.

@M.C.. I may have a solution to the bsp sender thread. Will report back when I've done a bit more investigation!!

The guy at spa did say they'd asked Gems to make the oil pressure sender unit with a 1/8npt thread in the future, so this may well be another option.

Being a penis is not easy. Sometimes it just comes naturally, others have to work at it. I am no exception to this!!
Had a bit of spare time on Tuesday, so thought I'd make a start on fitting the oil temp sensor into the oil cooler sandwich plate. I went to remove the 1/8 npt blanking plugs and disaster struck. One of them was in so tight that it rounded out the bung! This meant stripping down and removing the take off plate so I could remove the plug. Easy enough to remove you'd think, but oh f**king no!! Stud extractor was laughed at as the bung itself was aluminium.
I decided the best thing to do was to just order a new one which arrived today. I now have a black one!

Today I had another look at the old one to see if it could actually be saved. Managed to attack it with a small electricians screwdriver and a hammer to see if I could remove the remains. Success!! Ffs.

Ran the npt tap I've got down it to clean the threads up and she's now a beaut. Typical.

Moral of the story? Don't be so imaptient until you know it's 100% fucked. I'll be putting this up for sale shortly. Lol! No need for 2!!

This arrived today as well

so thats another job ticked off the list. Ordering fittings for the oil pressure gauge tomorrow.

More to come.

Glad to hear it. I'm still tempted to get you to have a look at a JC5 for me though! There's also my MTX75 to consider, so you better hurry up and finish your car so you can get on with those lol.

Yeah no worries mate. Got the jc5's down to a fine art now. I reckon if I had all the parts there that I'd need to do a full strip down and rebuild it would take me around 2-3 hrs tops. Lol

i might have to get in touch with you sooner than later....mine is getting a bit whiney when going round corners.
just did a fluidchange in case it was that.....no such luck.
Ok mate. Sounds like diff bearings or the diff itself. I'm seeing quite a lot come through now with internal diff damage now. This could be where yours has failed and the debris has taken out the bearings.

This has just reminded me, I have a JC5-120 box I sort of acquired when trying to fix my diff last year lol. I've got absolutely no idea what it comes out of, but would it be any use to you for spares? If so I can bring it with me Sunday, otherwise it'll probably get scrapped!

Yeah bring it down mate. I'll pop it open and see if there's anything salvageable in it! You never know your luck! Lol

Oh have no fear mate, I'm keeping at it! Jc5's have been halting the progress the past few weeks/months. I'll soon only have 2 in my garage - both of them belong to me! Lol

Lol the curse of being the forum gearbox guru mate ;) !!!
All the cool little bits and attention to detail add up to being a really impressive build mate, look forward to seeing it finished

I wouldn't class myself as a guru mate! Lol! I do however, get enjoyment from stripping and rebuilding gearboxes. It's a curse mate!

Thanks. I don't see the point in rushing the job along, then have to spend time afterwards making good the things I didn't do first time around. I also look forward to seeing it finished. As does the wife. Lol

Ha, it's fine as long as you're not at a steady speed using a constant revs between 1000-7000rpm,
it does vibrate a lot, but I just like pretending I'm John Cleland in 90's Cavalier touring car:up:

You know that PMS sorted/reduced it by the addition of a weight near the gearbox end
Yeah and charge you for the liberty of the fix. Lol! f**k that. Also, @MarkX still had the rattle I believe after he'd fitted it! Lol
Tbh I'm convinced it's the collar for the lift up reverse, so it would be a simple case of machining some grooves to accept o rings, then sliding the collar back over the top. Not sure I want to spend the money on something that I don't know 100% I can fix though.

It also felt wrong adding a 1kg weight to the linkage of a track car! I still have it if you want to give it a try :)
Yeah, I had that conversation with them too when they were investigating it. I'm not paying for a fix and also adding weight to the vehicle. Tbh, mines only for track/events so I'm happy with the benefits of the product as it stands, I can appreciate this being annoying for daily users though.
