Cameras - u can check the number of shutter actuations

Lenses - generally are fine as long as they have been kept with caps on.

I would - if it came with a guarantee and all the box / paperwork etc

I bought my D50 second hand. Perfect condition. So glad I got back into it TBH.

Nearly half of my equipment is refurbished stuff.

Not had any problems.
